Some things we can grow tired of pretty quickly: pickle-flavored potato chips, Steven Segal movies, family visiting from out of town… but races between automobiles and aircraft don’t count among them. We could watch those all day long. And here’s another, courtesy of Jeep.

While most of these showdowns tend to involve supercars and jet airplanes, this one takes a different approach, pitting a Jeep Grand Cherokee against a propeller stunt plane. But it wasn’t just any old Grand Cherokee: this race was contested by the SRT model, with its 6.4-liter Hemi V8 in all its 461-horsepower glory.

The Hemi engine was, as FCA is keen to point out, originally developed to propel the WW2-era Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. So bringing the latest version of the engine back together with an airplane seemed only natural.

Natural as well is that Jeep chose a plane with similar performance capabilities to the Grand Cherokee SRT. Enter the Silence SA1100 Twister, which flew between the pylons above the Blyton Park Driving Center in Lincolnshire, England. Watch the video below to see how it went down.
