The first trailer for The Fate of the Furious has just been released following a live premiere on the streets of Times Square in New York City.

The team behind the eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise have been teasing the new film for months and now it’s apparent why, it promises to be unlike any other F&F film before it.

The trailer includes all the action and explosions we have become accustomed to since Fast Five. Of most importance however is that Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, turns his back on the crew and goes evil, appearing to join forces with the lead antagonist Cipher, played by Charlize Theron.

Although exact plot details are hard to decipher from the trailer, it appears that the fast crew will attempt to take down Cipher and Toretto and on their journey, travel to places like Cuba, Ohio and Iceland.

As for the cars, there appears to be the usual mix of American muscle, including a number of Dodge Challengers, some rather impressive exotics like a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and a number of military vehicles.

The Fate of the Furious will hit theatres on April 14, 2017.
