Kia’s first entry into the high ground clearance B-segment wears the Stonic badge, and it can already be ordered in the United Kingdom.

It’s based on the latest Rio, with engines coming from the Rio and Cee’d, and it was designed at the brand’s Frankfurt studious, with additional input from the main design center in Namyang, Korea.

Prices for the base model start at £16,295 ($21,647), which uses a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts down 98PS (97hp). Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, roof rails, electrically adjustable heated side mirrors, bi-function projection headlights, cornering lights, and LED DRLs.

Step inside and you will find a 3.5-inch supervision cluster, Bluetooth with music streaming, all-round electric windows, remote locking, multi-function steering wheel, 6-speaker sound system, and 60:40 split rear seats.

The same flavor of the Kia Stonic can also be had with a 1.0-liter T-GDi turbo’d petrol unit that makes 118PS (116hp), or with a 1.6-liter CRDi turbodiesel that comes straight from the Cee’d and delivers 108PS (106hp) to the wheels. Prices for the former start at £16,995 ($22,577), while the latter option costs at least £17,795 ($23,640). Regardless of the choice, all versions have front-wheel drive.

Finally, Kia is also offering the Stonic First Edition, which comes with a few extra touches on the outside, such as the two-tone paintwork, and a similar theme in the cabin. It also gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and TomTom, keyless entry, push-button start, automatic air conditioning, rear privacy glass, and several other amenities.

The Kia Stonic First Edition has a choice of two powertrains: the 1.0-liter GDi and the 1.6-liter CRDi, and it’s priced from £19,695 ($26,164) and £20,495 ($27,226), respectively.
