No, it’s not a joke. The pictured modified version of the second-generation Hyundai Veloster will be introduced to the big screen later this year, as part of a global marketing initiative.

According to the Korean brand, the 2019 Veloster in hot rod attire will be featured in “a hot pursuit” scene of Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp, which highlights its “capabilities in serving as the ultimate escape vehicle”, along with its “speed and handling”.

Finished in purple and adorned with yellow and orange flames, the tuned Veloster that would feel right at home at SEMA has a few other mods that make it instantly noticeable, such as the hood scoop, side exhaust pipes, large rear wing, and chunky tires.

The sequel of the 2015 ‘Ant-Man’ movie is scheduled to premiere on July 6 at cinemas across the US, and it will mark the Hollywood debut of other Hyundai vehicles, whose names haven’t been released yet.

“The Veloster totally exemplifies the energetic, no-holds-barred attitude that accompanies this franchise, and we’re going to have a lot of fun working with Hyundai to see how we can share that mindset with fans all around the world”, commented Marvel’s SVP of Global Partnership and Marketing, Mindy Hamilton.

Prior to its movie debut, Hyundai will start producing the new generation Veloster in March, in their homeland, with the first cars expected to arrive on our shores in the second quarter of the year.

Subsequently, the performance-oriented N version that adds a host of visual and technical upgrades, including a 275hp 2.0-liter four-banger, will be put together from September, and the first units will be shipped to the US before the end of 2018.
