Audi R8 V10 Plus, Porsche 911 Turbo S & McLaren 570S Fight On Track

Want something fast but can’t quite stretch to a full-on supercar? Fortunately there’s a whole new class of sports car that has emerged, and it’s populated by some seriously mouth-watering machinery. The question is, which is the fastest?

You could compare output levels, power-to-weight ratios, isolated performance stats like acceleration times and braking distances. But push comes to shove, the best way to tell which is the best performer overall is to put them all on the same track, in the hands of the same driver, preferably under the same conditions, and see how fast they each get around.

So for its latest showdown, the blokes over at Auto Express have lined up three highly competitive challengers at the Llandow circuit in Wales. They’re each immensely powerful and capable machines, but which will lap the track fastest: the McLaren 570S, Audi R8 V10 Plus, or Porsche 911 Turbo S?

Suffice it to say that two set new lap records and one fell a bit behind. Scope out the video to see how each fared.

“Fortunately there’s a whole new class of sports car that has emerged”
Sports cars?! Really Carscoops.I would not call an Audi R8 V10 Plus,a Porche 911 Turbo S nor a Mclaren 570S a sports car, they’re definitively supercars. Or I’m just stupid, and in this case, really really stupid!!!

    • Neil Garratt

Totally agree, these are full on Supercars – I’d class a BMW M4 as an entry level Supercar and these are beyond that. In my opinion anything over £250k is a hypercar, owned by an elite few and rarely used for the purpose they were made.

    • Shobin Drogan

Well, calling these cars sports cars is not wrong, supercars are a faster and a more high end version of a sports car. And the word sports car means a car designed mostly for speed which applies to supercars, gt cars and frankly even hypercars.

  • Neil Garratt

Not watched video yet but wherever it finishes I’d take the McLaren every day of the week.
