Following those low-res images of the new McLaren 570S earlier today, we now have a full high-definition gallery and initial specifications on Britain’s answer to the Porsche 911 Turbo.

You can judge the appearance of the car for yourself in the photos from Autowp, we’ll just say that the front looks all too familiar making it hard to tell the difference between a 570S and a 650S, but the profile and especially the curvier rear end have their own styling.

As for the interior, McLaren went for a minimalistic look aided by a large touchscreen for both the infotainment system and the climate controls mounted on a floating center console. According to the British firm, the 570S offers the most usable space of any McLaren model to date, with extended stowage space inside along with a 150 liter boot in front.

Thanks to the guys over from Autonocion, we also have the official specification sheet of McLaren’s new base model that utilizes a de-tuned version of the 650S’ twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 positioned behind the driver and connected to a seven-speed SSG transmission that drives the rear wheels. It’s good for 570PS (562hp) at 7,400 rpm and 600Nm (443 lb ft) between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm.

Stopping power is provided by standard carbon ceramic brakes fitted behind new alloy wheels shod in Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires size 225/35/R19 on the front and 285/35/R20 on the rear.

The 570S is built on a newly designed carbon fiber MonoCell II chassis that tips the scales at just 80kg or 176 lbs. Together with the use of aluminum body panels, it contributes to a dry weight of as low as 1,313kg (2,895lbs), which McLaren says, is “almost 150kg [331 lbs] lighter than its closest competitor”.

According to the manufacturer, the 570S accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds and to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.5 seconds, while it has a top speed of 328 km/h (204mph).

It also has a combined fuel economy on the EU cycle of just 25.5mpg (we’re not sure at this point if it’s US or UK gallons) with CO2 emissions of 258g/km.

The 570S coupe, which will have its first public outing at this week’s New York Auto Show, will be followed by additional models in McLaren’s entry-level Sport Series, including an open-top Spider, and possibly, a more spacious GT and a more hardcore “Long Tail” version.
