Last year, Tesla bumped the power of its Model S flagship from 691 hp to 762 hp and gave it a different name. The results are mesmerizing.

With a 10% faster acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) than the P85D (2.8 seconds), the new and improved P90D is the fastest Tesla ever built. Moreover, aided by the ‘Ludicrous’ upgrade, the car became a worthy opponent to every overpowered car on the drag strip, boasting a quarter mile time of 10.9 seconds, and 1.1G during accelerations – according to Tesla.

Does it sound too good to be true? Well, it’s not, as this video proves that not only the four-door sedan is capable of holding its own against a few supercars in a drag race, but can beat them as well.

The Tesla Model S’ owner – the same 20 Y.O. that supposedly went street racing with his dad’s car – took it to Rockingham Dragstrip and registered a quarter mile time of 10.8 seconds. That’s as fast as a Ferrari F12tfd, or a 2012 Nissan GT-R, and a tad faster than a Pagani Huyara, or a Chevy Corvette Z06.

To make things even more interesting, in his first ever quarter mile run with the Tesla (as stated in the video description), the owner registered a 10.83 quarter mile time.

The ‘Ludicrous’ mode comes as a $10k option for new P90D owners, while existing P90D owners can have the upgrade retrofitted in their cars (for the same amount of cash, plus taxes and labor), although it takes more than a Wi-Fi update, as it requires replacing the standard fuse with an “advanced smart fuse” that controls electricity on the dot.
