Baby Driver Ansel Elgort Trades The Keys To His Subaru For A Porsche 918 Spyder

Ansel Elgort is known for being the spirited driver behind the wheel of the red Subaru WRX in the film “Baby Driver.” Elgort recently got to swap his WRX for something a little faster: a Porsche 918 Spyder.

Porsche recently released the first episode in its “Top 5” series and, unfortunately, it’s kind of a bummer. The video sees Elgort and Lars Kern, who’s a Porsche test driver, provide some details on the 918 Spyder. As the series’ name implies, Kern lays out the top five features of the hybrid supercar.

When the 918 came out, it was in a league of its own. It was a supercar that had a hybrid powertrain and looked like a spaceship – what more could anyone ask for from a car?

But things have progressed. McLaren came out with the P1 and Ferrari has the LaFerrari, which means that Porsche isn’t the only one with a hybrid supercar anymore. Still, it has managed to beat those two more powerful rivals in more than one occasions, showing that a. horsepower isn’t everything, and b. four-wheel drive is a plus when it comes to getting the most of such outstanding performance.

918 Spyder is the best looking of the Trifecta Hybrid Hypercars

    • wait a minute

It’s design is very restrained, compared to the others. 918 the best hypercar IMO
The original Mclaren F1 had similar styling restrain mixed with hypercar performance.

I must say that for me it’s the LaFerrari.

    • SteersUright

While its beautiful and stunningly detailed when seen up close, I personally think the LaFerrari takes first.

I so wanted to hate that movie, but ended up absolutely loving it.

    • Vassilis

Baby Driver? Why did you want to hate it?

      • TheHake

Because of the name, and the hype, and everything. But it was a REALLY cool movie.

    • nastinupe

I loved that movie. It was a breath of fresh air.

One of my dream cars, but it’s just over priced at this point. I’d pay $800,000 for it if I had the money, but not 2 million.
