New Tesla Roadster Looks Simply Stunning Under The Right Light

Tesla wasn’t just the first automaker to make electric vehicles exhilarating, it was also the first to make them appealing to the eye. The latest-generation Roadster promises to take those selling points to new heights.

First previewed late last year, the new Roadster will arrive early next decade and promises to be the most accelerative production car ever produced, reaching 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 2 seconds. Elon Musk also asserts that it’ll sprint to over 250 mph (402 km/h) and run for up to 620 miles on a single charge.

If these figures are achieved, then the Roadster will certainly have all the performance-oriented boxes ticked. But what about perfecting the art of design?

Well, as these images from a Reddit user reveal, the new Roadster also looks ¬absolutely stunning, particularly under the right light.

This example is most likely the same one which Tesla unveiled in November. Consequently, it features the same red paint scheme, black wheels, red brake calipers, and white leather interior. From every angle, it looks good, especially from the rear which incorporates tiny taillights, a small pop-up spoiler and an extreme diffuser.

It remains to be seen if Tesla has signed off the Roadster’s design for production but we sure hope the exterior remains unchanged.

As for the interior, it could use some work. Beyond featuring a racing-inspired steering wheel and a large central touchscreen, it is completely bare and looks unfinished. Here’s hoping Tesla has something up its sleeve.

What the Acura NSX should have been.

  • Mr. Crankypants

Sure, it’s nice but nothing original…I think we’ve reached a plateau in exterior design. Everything is sculpted in the wind tunnel and ends up looking pretty much the same. Styling was more dramatic before aerodynamics. Sure, those old cars were heavy, handled poorly and were disasters of inefficiency, but holy cow they were distinctive. This Tesla or a ‘67 Riviera? Give me the Riv!

    • DMax

Yeah but all those old cars looked like one another too. Riviera, Cutlass, Galaxy, GTO, etc. all have the same body shape just different head/tail lights.

    • AH YES A ’68-69 RIV WITH AN ELECTRIC POWERTRAIN FOR ME.

I just looked up snake oil salesman and they had a picture of Elon Musk

    • Callanish

“Currently, it has come to refer to any product with questionable or unverifiable quality or benefit. By extension, a snake oil salesman is someone who knowingly sells fraudulent goods or who is a fraud, quack, or charlatan.”

He started a car company from scratch. His cars have been built and have been no less reliable than any other manufacturer out there and he’s been pushing the envelope on technology since day one. His Space-X is so far ahead of everyone else, it’s not even funny, including against any Govt space program and you have the audacity to call him a snake salesman. Fuck off with that bullshit!

      • LWOAP

Space-X being far ahead of any gov’t space program? I doubt that. Space-X has done better than any other private company I can currently think of, but I don’t see them outdoing other space programs.

  • Nordschleife

That interior will look the same because we had those same thoughts about the Model 3 interior and it turned out looking exactly the same as the prototypes. 🤮. But the exterior looks good

    • Bash

      Agreed

    • YEAH NO WAY I’D GO FOR A CAR THAT EXPENSIVE THAT HAS NOTING PLEASING TO LOOK AT WHILE YOU’RE INSIDE.

  • Bash

The thing is, in real life, not every light is right!

  • Six_Tymes

looks good, but whats up with the interior images? they look fake, NOTICE i said they look, and i did not say they are

    • Matt

They’re just zoomed in on a phone camera so the quality is poor.

  • LWOAP

Speaking of flamethrowers you can buy one from Elon. Well, last I checked anyway.

    • Look Great, but..

That was my reference, but alas they are all sold out and all it’s really good for is lighting several Bob Marley king-sized joints at one time.

  • Honda NSX-R

It’s growing on me in terms of looks

  • Just some fake “fake exhausts” and we’re ready to go. 🙂

  • THEY NEED TO TAKE THAT BLACK CRAP OFF THE BACK BUMPER. FOR A QUARTER MIL I WANT TO LOOK AT SOMETHING MORE PLEASING INSIDE THAN A SHELF.

  • I KNOW WHAT IT DOES BUT REALISTICALLY THE CAR IS A GT AND ISN’T NECESSARY FOR DAILY DRIVING.

    Best interior ever

  • YUDHA BAGASKARA

i hope the car spawns frequently before 2020

  • EDDIMUNDO

Onto issue I have with electric cars is sure you can’t hit those speeds, but then how much battery do you have left? Also unlike a petrol car which gets faster with each lap and electric car doesn’t have that luxury as the battery’s weight doesn’t decrease as it is being used up.

  • Galaxium

Design is clean but it’s pretty generic. It’s something I’d imagine to be in Grand Theft Auto.

  • SteersUright

Very cool, but not beautiful by any means. Some great design features look wonderful from some angles, but overall the design is very common, too safe, and not jaw-droopingly stunning.
