Honda has just unveiled its all-new BTCC Civic Type R race car at Parcmotor Castellolí, in Spain.

The car was built over the winter by Team Dynamics, and is now being tested by the Halfords Yuasa Racing team in a raw-looking form – the official 2018 livery won’t be unveiled until March 22. Getting behind the wheel will be triple BTCC champion Matt Neal and Dan Cammish.

“The Honda Civic Type R has been one of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship’s most successful cars during its time in the series, and with the launch of the FK8 road car in 2017, it’s fantastic to see the next generation in full racing trim out on track for 2018,” stated Honda UK managing director, David Hodgetts.

Meanwhile, Halfords Yuasa Racing’s team manager, James Rodgers, feels that all the time spent in order to successfully transition to the new Civic Type R in the off-season has been worth it.

“The car provides an excellent platform to work with and we’re sure it’ll prove a potent package when it hits the track in anger at Brands Hatch. We’ve got a busy testing schedule in the lead up to that point, and we will be sure to hit the ground running when the season starts, in the best shape possible.”

The FK8 race car will greet the crowd during the opening round of this year’s BTCC campaign at Brands Hatch on April 8, but not before more track tests are completed, at Brands Hatch as well as Donington Park.
