This Take On The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA Is Pretty Much Spot-On

With its front-wheel drive platform, the CLA may not be the powersliding four-door coupe that enthusiasts yearn for, but it’s still a big moneymaker for Mercedes-Benz.

In fact, it’s so popular that the German automaker will soon bring it back for its second generation, which will follow hot on the heels of the recently unveiled 2019 A-Class.

So, how will it look like? Very similar to the new-gen compact hatchback, according to XTomi’s rendering, albeit with a few tweaks made here and there. The rendering looks pretty much spot-on, but it remains to be seen if the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA will actually look like this.

Underpinned by the same architecture as the new A-Class, the next CLA will continue to be offered with standard front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be an option. It will be powered by a host of small engines, some of them carried with a few improvements from the current iteration, and some shared with Renault, and it should to be offered with both manual and automatic transmissions.

The interior of the compact car will be entirely new as well and come equipped with the latest tech, including the MBUX infotainment system, which brings a dual-screen layout similar to the one found in the new E-Class and facelifted S-Class.

Mercedes-AMG will likely offer a CLA45 version as well, with AWD and the 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine of the upcoming A45 hatch that’s expected to generate in excess of 400 horsepower.

How would you know? Are you a time traveler, or you’re just… “special”?

      • europeon

Hijabs? They’re all gonna be wearing burkas.

  • LWOAP

Another render. At least it isn’t as bad as some of the previous offerings we had here.

  • SamuraiJack

    Already looks boring

  • Elmediterraneo

The CLA 45 will become the CLA 53. Nothing to do with the 6 cylinder CLS 53, but the new top of the line 4 cylinder will be called 53. The 6 cylinder will sooner become the 50. I know that doesn’t make sense.

  • Nordschleife

Agree with all of this and I’d like to add I personally like the render and this looks pretty good as a production model if it looks like this exactly.

  • HDS

I saw a CLA shooting break in Paris a couple of years ago I was so impressed with the shape that I had to snap a picture of it. I would love to have ond in that very same color! For the price there may be better cars out there, but this must be one of he better looking Estates

  • The image does not refer to a Mercedes CLA. The A Class has a double gloss black pillar, while the CLA Class has a single pillar on each side of the car, due to the unframed windows. Also, the CLA is a bit longer.
