Mercedes will finally pull the wraps off the new A-Class in a few minutes, so join us for the reveal of the new premium compact hatchback.

Rather than keeping the new generation A-Class under wraps until its debut, the German company opted for a long teasing campaign that included not only showing the car with a thin camouflage wrap but also revealing its interior in its full glory.

The 2018 Mercedes A-Class will also become the company’s first model to adopt their new MBUX infotainment system.

The new system adopts the very well received dual-display setup from the bigger Mercedes models and makes impressive claims as far as its built-in features and usability. For example, the MBUX will come with a new intelligent voice control that uses AI to understand natural speech commands in the same fashion most smartphones do these days.

The new compact Mercedes will be based on the MFA2 architecture, featuring a longer by 30mm wheelbase for more interior room at the rear and thinner pillars along with wider side windows for better visibility. This increased space and visibility will be backed by additional sound deadening material to make sure that the new A-Class will offer true Mercedes levels of comfort. Cheaper models will get a torsion beam setup at the rear, with the more expensive getting a multi-link suspension.

As for the engine range, the latest information talks about a wide range that includes seven petrol and four diesel options. These will include the brand-new turbocharged 1.3-liter petrol engine, developed in collaboration with Renault-Nissan, offered in three different power versions.

Other engine options will include a turbocharged 2.0-liter unit for AMG’s A35 and A45 versions. The former is expected to pack around 340hp while the range-topping 45 will go over the 400hp threshold. Mild and plug-in hybrid versions are expected to play a major role in the new A-Class and are expected to offer up to 31 miles (50km) of electric range.

The new Mercedes A-Class is just minutes away from finally greeting the world, so join us in what appears to be the most impressive compact hatchback in years.
