Anyone can drive through the streets of Monte Carlo most of the year. But come time for one of the major racing events (like the Monte Carlo Rally, Monaco Grand Prix, Historic Grand Prix, or Monaco ePrix) things shut down rather quickly – and local police can be rather vigilant.

So if you’re going to try your hand at the famous street circuit and pretend like you’re Ayrton Senna, you’re going to need to keep pretty quiet.

However, in order to make the experience more realistic, you’ll also need something that packs a performance punch. Something like the new Jaguar I-Pace, for example.

The latest addition to the British automaker’s lineup is its third crossover, after the F-Pace and E-Pace, but its first fully electric model. And, despite being an EV, it doesn’t skimp on the power or performance. The battery-powered I-Pace incorporates two electric motors and a 90-kWh lithium-ion power cell. Together, they produce a combined 395 horsepower (295 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, driving all four wheels to deliver a 0-60 time quoted at four seconds flat.

The electric crossover has just hit the scene, and will form the basis for a new support series for Formula E, in which Jaguar also competes.

Thus, to show it off, Jaguar took the new I-Pace out onto the streets of the glamorous Mediterranean enclave for a spirited drive in the dead of the night.

Fortunately it brought some cameras along to record the experience and shared the footage on YouTube, both in a nicely polished 30-second clip and a nearly two-minute behind-the-scenes, “making of” video – and you can check them both right below.
