Tesla Model X Takes On Acura NSX In Ultra High-Tech Drag Race

The Tesla Model X and Acura NSX are two very different vehicles. One is an electric SUV, while the other is a hybrid hypercar. They do have one thing in common, though: both are incredibly quick. But which one is quicker in a drag race? That’s the question DragTimes hopes to answer with its latest video.

When you look past the NSX and Model X’s exterior, you start to see some similarities. Both vehicles have futuristic powertrains that are a nod towards cleaner, more-efficient vehicles. Being efficient may be high on the priority list for both, but they also boast devastating performance. We’ve seen the Model X absolutely decimate a Jeep Trackhawk and the NSX show a Model S its taillights.

This, then, should be a close race. The NSX has a few modifications, including downpipes from SicenceofSpeed and HRE wheels. The Model X, on the other hand, is all stock. Still, on paper, this race should be pretty close.

The Model X P100D is capable of getting to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, while the NSX can do the same sprint in roughly 3.0 seconds. It’s crazy to think that both vehicles are just as quick despite having drastically different body styles, not to mention that they would embarrass much more expensive supercars from just a few years ago.

Still, both vehicles line up next to each other to see which one reigns supreme in a quarter-mile drag race. If you want to skip the intro and just watch the race, skip ahead to the 1:49 mark in the video below. While we won’t ruin the race for you, we will say that the result, as expected, is really close.

VIDEO

  • Frank Yoster

guy in the nsx rooked out.

  • LWOAP

    Meh….another Tesla drag video.

    • S3XY

Meh… another supercar struggling burning gas.

      • LWOAP

Your quota has been met for the day. Thank you for your hard work.

  • d’Aforde

Acura, go back to the drawing board and take the gas engine out of the NSX LOL

    • Day_Trader

It’s not Acura, it’s the driver of Acura who is clearly late to the party every freaking time.

    • S3XY

But it has 3 electric motors to help the engine!

  • ErnieB

I’d take the nsx any time over any Tesla..

    • S3XY

      But you can’t afford neither.

      • no25

wow, didn’t know you knew ErnieB so well. lmao i didnt know someone could be SO OBSESSED with such an unreliable brand like Tesla.

  • David De Fortier

Looks like the nsx was late off the mark

    • Jay

agreed there should have been a take 2 and 3.

  • Craig

Yet another amazing coincidence. The person driving the ‘competition’ fails to launch properly.

    • S3XY

Seems to be a habit of ICE drivers.

  • These 0-60 times are all fun, however I’m always interested in stamina…can the Tesla keep up that pace for 2+ hours nonstop? This my friends is why the internal combustion engine will be around for the next 1,000 years, or unless there is a spectacular breakthrough in battery tech…

    • S3XY

2+ hours nonstop? My commute to work is only 30 minutes.

      • So for you, driving a car is not a pleasurable endeavor…ok, I use a train to get to work and drive long distances for pleasure…I look forward to road trips in my various high-performance cars…

  • Rob Banks

So, was the nsx driver picking his nose, or jerking off, long after the tesla launched? That car length head start, then weak submissive finish, handicapped everything. Not saying the outcome would’ve been reversed but the prob with racing an nsx usually has a lot to do with human error.

  • Eagle By Singer

Yay. Another tesla drag race. My favourite…

  • UGH! Another Tesla Story

  • The reason anyone visit this site. Tesla drag race video!

  • Bash

    Meh!

  • Totz

the last time I saw NSX drag lapse time is as quick as the TESLA, maybe there is a driver failure to launch it much quicker…

  • TheBelltower

The NSX sounds like $h!t. I don’t care if it eats the Teslas lunch on the drag strip, it does nothing for me.
