A fight between a BMW M6 and an Alpina B6 makes for a really enticing sibling rivalry in the world of drag racing.

The white two-door, struggling to put its power down off the line, is a tuned M6 Competition, wearing a Dinan Stage 1 kit, worth 695 HP. The four-door on the other hand is an Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe, putting down a stock 600 HP and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, which would have normally given it an advantage over a stock M6, while locking it in a tie with the M6 Competition.

Speaking of having an advantage, the Alpina also features BMW‘s xDrive all-wheel drive system, which tends to come in handy whenever you’re thinking about accelerating hard off the line. Of course, in this particular case, it will also have to compensate for the B6’s power deficit.

The two cars went at it over four races, two of which had to be abandoned due to some major traction issues for the near 700 HP M6 Coupe. When it did eventually hook properly, it really put on a show, although strictly from a roll.

Another interesting factor is being able to clearly distinguish between the two soundtracks. While we definitely want to hear your thoughts on this matter, we can’t help but feel like the Alpina’s exhaust sounded a lot better than the one on the M6.
