After a glorious leak of the weird Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept, the new A-Class Sedan appears to have stumbled onto the Internet prematurely too.

What we have here is an image shared by CarNewsChina, which is said to have ended up online after “workers forgot to cover a giant backdrop they were busy hanging up on the exhibition hall”.

Notice the ‘L’ designation on the number plate? It suggests that this could be a long wheelbase version.

If that’s the case, then expect a few inches added to the wheelbase for increased legroom at the rear, something that Chinese consumers take very seriously.

Design wise, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan features most of the hatchback’s front end, a few AMG exterior parts, a new bonnet and a surprisingly sloping roofline, which makes us wonder how the second-gen CLA will look like.

Just like the Maybach study, the new A-Class Sedan will premiere at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, starting with April 25. From there, it will hit the assembly lines in China, though in the coming months, it’s expected to celebrate its debut in Western markets as well.

Mercedes-Benz will sell it in Europe, United States and Canada, too, with different engine options, which will be shared with the five-door model. It remains to be seen whether an AMG A45 variant of the A-Class Sedan will be developed, or if the engine will be kept for the upcoming CLA.
