Road-Going Kia Proceed Shooting Brake May Debut In Paris

Kia has confirmed that it is working on a third body style for the latest-generation Ceed, and it could very well be a Shooting Brake.

At last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the South Korean automaker unveiled the stunning Proceed Shooting Brake Concept. Initially, it was unclear if the automaker had already designed a production version, but during a recent discussion with Auto Week, Kia’s head of product planning seemed to confirm that the car will reach the production line.

According to David Labrosse, Kia will introduce a third bodystyle of the Ceed at the upcoming Paris Motor Show to slot alongside the hatchback and wagon.

Style and practicality to join forces

Further quizzed about the model, Kia Motors Europe’s former chief operating officer Michael Cole, was asked if the next Ceed variant will be similar to the Hyundai i30 Fastback. Responding, Cole said the new Ceed will instead be more sporty and practical.

It’s hard to deny the fact that the Proceed Shooting Brake Concept looked extremely intriguing. With that in mind, it could easily act as the perfect flagship model in the Ceed range, if put into production.

Kia unveiled the all-new Ceed in hatchback and wagon guises at last month’s Geneva Motor Show. Both mark a significant visual departure from the two previous generations, and should definitely put up a better fight against the VW Golf.

  • Dr Strangefingger

Wow, beautiful. I would buy this with the right powertrain.

  • I hope the production version would stick to original’s beautiful line.

  • klowik

This is Wow!! if only the production is close to this,

  • CarCzarDesigner

Too bad this isn’t being planned for introduction in the States, as an alternative to the average CUV’s.

    • bd0007

There is a possibility that it will come here; just as we may get the i30 N Fastback.

  • Craig

Please. Make it look just like that.

  • Bob V

If Kia stays true to this design, they have a taken several steps forward. Very nice!

  • KidRed

This is hotter than the Stinger!! Bring this here on the Stringer platform!!!

Shooting brake : noun : a station wagon.

    • khc

This concept is a wagon. A “shooting brake” is a 2-door wagon (regardless of what Kia chooses to name it).

  • khc

It’s beautiful, and it might be named “Shooting Brake,” but it’s not a shooting brake.

  • john1168

It would be great if this was RWD based like the Stinger. But it won’t 🙁

    • bd0007

AWD is in play for the next generation.

      • john1168

That would be good for this car. I hope it doesn’t lose it’s rwd design proportions (long nose), although there would be no need for it. Hopefully it’s a good awd system with a rear limited slip differential.

  • ME

I bet it will look like the Sticker but with a differnt back to it. Everything else will be identical to save money.

    • john1168

It’ll have similar design elements but this will be front wheel drive based where the Stinger is RWD.

This is amazing, HEY KIA, want to forever have new respect, Produce this, and dont water the design down.
