Driver Narrowly Avoids Head-On Collision During Atrocious Overtaking Maneuver

Even though this first-generation Dacia Logan was registered to a medical clinic last year when the incident occurred, should we really assume this maneuver was anything but irresponsible?

That would obviously mean giving the driver the benefit of the doubt, entertaining the notion that perhaps this really was the mother of all medical emergencies. Although, if we were to treat it like we would any other risky overtaking maneuver, the only sensible thing to do is cringe while trying not to picture a devastating outcome.

This action is actually from last year, and it took place on a single-lane rural road in Romania. As you can see, there was no room for overtaking, and the Logan driver even had the chance to slot back in behind that black VW Polo.

Instead, he or she nearly collided with an old Skoda Octavia and an Opel Astra. No matter how you spin it, this was way too close for comfort.

Hopefully all legal measures were taken after the fact, and the person driving the Dacia answered for what they did. Even if it was a full blown medical emergency – which is unlikely since the car wasn’t an ambulance and also isn’t ideal for transporting vital organs – the reality is that the driver didn’t care about other road users’ safety one bit.

He is lucky to be in that small car, I would imagine it would ended differently if it was any other bigger car.

    Meer idioten op de weg!

  • This very normal roadbehavior in Eastern-Europe, therefor you see no angry reaction, or scary reaction of the oher drivers.

I sounds like they got honked at twice.. I wouldn’t say that was normal. It was a risky move all to get a few seconds ahead.. not worth anyone’s life..

You are wrong. There was no bigger reaction from other drivers because most of them are dribbling zombies ignoring everybody and everything around themselves. To be honest, I’m surprised that they didn’t crash straight into the white logan. I guess that some primal reflexes acted at the very last moment. I was overtaking this way (going straight into the incoming traffic) three times in my life and EVERY time there was no or almost no reaction from the driver which I was overtaking and also no reaction from driver to which I was going to crash violently. Even if there was always easily enough space for three cars. One time it was pathetic fat biker on his even more pathetic stupid loud chopper who continued to go very near the center lane despite me going straight into him. He did not even try to move to the side and my side mirror went maybe 20 cm from him. The drivers simply have a reaction times of a dead fish or they are so stupid that they want to show me how dangerously I am driving by deliberately crashing into me. And I even move to the side, when I see that someone in front of me in the oncoming lane has to overtake a bicycle and needs some safe space for overtaking. To this day I never saw anyone let me overtake a bicycle like that…

Typical 16-22 year old driving style! Nothing new here! They believe they are top drivers and this type of conduct is proper because the rest are slow pokes!

  • Nice Road.
