Lexus LS 500h Goes From Rest To 157 Mph In More Than A Minute

In contrast to other videos, where powerful cars demonstrate their straight-line speed on a drag strip alone or racing someone else, this Lexus LS 500h is not going to stun the chronometers any time soon.

Then again, it wasn’t designed to do that, but to transport passengers in comfort and get them to their destination relatively quickly. Thus, the Japanese brand’s luxury sedan has the same purpose as a Mercedes-Benz S-Class – excluding, of course, the AMG models

Lexus’ LS 500h is no slouch though, as it has a total output of 354hp (359PS / 264kW) from a 3.5-liter V6 engine and two electric motors. Power is channeled to all four corners through a CVT paired to a four-speed automatic transmission. The heavy (5,027l bs- 2,280 kg) luxury sedan takes 5.4 seconds to reach 62 mph (100k m/h), and 0.2 seconds less to 60 mph (96 km/h).

If you find a long enough stretch of road, the LS 500h will go beyond the 155 mph (250 km/h) mark. However, getting there requires patience. How much patience? That would over a minute, as revealed in a video posted by AutoTopNL. This isn’t that bad to start with, but it isn’t record-breaking either. Still, for the fun of it, let’s watch it accelerate from 0 to 157 mph (253 km/h) in the short film that follows.

I’d say that was adequate performance from what is not meant to be a sports car, but a large luxury barge.

    • Lasse J. Nordvik

I agree. Still, the apparently very real possibility of Lexus offering a twin turbo V6 hybrid is quite appealing.

    • Honda NSX-R

I think the LS500 is like a half a second quicker than this from 0 to 60 mph.

      • Moveon Libtards

The Lexus is always playing catch up to the Euro and American brands. Remember when Lexus was on top? It has been a while.

    • Moveon Libtards

      “Barge” is correct.

But why cant Lexus keep up in the performance category like its competitors?

And that grey plastic interior wont help improve sales much either…

    do not want

  • ErnieB

This car makes a donkeys ass look sexy! Hideous! Those that like this car need eye transplants stat!

    • no25

No, we dont, sweetheart. You need to mind your business and let people like what they want. How about stop acting like a child and go to school and get a degree and stop crying so much?

      • ErnieB

But your profile pic says Awful .. surely you can’t have any good taste…lol

        • Knutsen

But any Acura is awful. I’m inclined to conclude that what you call lack of taste is his realistic view of the world in accordance with common sense.

        • no25

If you really think Acura is better than Lexus – hey, even if you think Acura is better than Infiniti – you’re the one with bad taste.

      • Moveon Libtards

Agree with Ernie. Some of us want more than an also-ran brand/ pumped up Toyota that is falling behind the competition in almost every aspect. And that plastic mix-matched interior is not helping either.

Why he don´t use the largest head-up display on the market?
