Chevrolet unveiled the facelifted Camaro earlier this year and one of the first models will be going to professional baseball player Alex Bregman.

The Houston Astros third baseman was named the most valuable player during last night’s MLB All-Star Game as he hit the game-winning home run that led to an American League victory. As a result, Bregman was awarded with a choice of receiving either a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 or a Camaro SS.

Bregman opted for the latter and now he will be one of the first people to receive a 2019 Camaro SS Coupe. The facelifted model has received a mixed reaction from fans as it features an all-new front fascia with a split grille and a “flowtie” logo. The model also has “aero-enhancing air curtains,” a ventilated hood and restyled headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The rear of the car is less controversial as the model has a modestly revised fascia and three dimensional LED taillights. Additional styling changes are limited, but the Camaro SS also comes with new 20-inch wheels.

There’s no word on which version of the car Bregman will receive, but the even the standard model has upgraded ambient lighting and an improved infotainment system with an 8-inch display. The 2SS variant goes even further as it adds a newly standard forward collision alert system and a digital rearview mirror.

Power is provided by a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine that produces 455 hp (339 kW / 461 PS) and 455 lb-ft (617 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to a new ten-speed automatic transmission which replaces the previous eight-speed gearbox. While most enthusiasts will likely stick with the six-speed manual, the automatic transmission has launch control and a line lock function.

The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro will go on sale this fall and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
