Lamborghini Huracan Performante Burns To A Crisp At A Gas Station In The US

Two Lamborghini Huracan owners had a pretty bad weekend, as one exotic was pushed under a parked car on Friday night, whereas the other was completely destroyed by fire.

The Huracan Performante in question was taking part in the Goldrush Rally. As the owner driving it home, he decided to stop for gas in St. Louis, along with his friend, who was driving a Gallardo Spyder.

Both of them were inside the gas station, when they noticed “a massive fireball out the window”, according to a social media post made by the owner of the Gallardo. At that point, they had no clue what happened and which car was burning, so they ran out to the other side of the road and contacted the emergency services.

By the time police and firefighters arrived at the scene, it was already too late for the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which was completely destroyed.

So what happened that led to the fire?

A car enthusiast, who was filming both exotics while their owners were inside the gas station, caught a Chrysler minivan on camera, which drove off with the fuel hose still attached to it. The MPV seems to have sprayed gasoline on the blue Huracan, igniting the engine bay almost instantly.

The police apparently identified the driver of the MPV and “everything will be taken care of”, as per the owner of the Gallardo, who was “thankful” that everyone “got away safe and it didn’t escalate into a bigger fire”.

In an Instagram post made by GoldRushRally, organizers said: “We are happy to report that no one was hurt in yesterday’s fire.”

As for the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder that was sitting in front of the Performante during the incident, it was “just covered in ash”.

H/T to Michal

Yes, that was myself and my friend with the two Lamborghinis at the gas station last night. We were out driving for a bit and I needed to go get gas. The blue Lamborghini pulled up right behind me. He decided to go in to get us waters and while I was trying to pay for my gas at the pump there was a card error, so I also went inside. As soon as we walked in, we saw a massive fireball out the window. We all ran out of the gas station to the other side of the road. At this point, we had no idea what happened or who’s car(s) were on fire. We dialed 911 and when the fire was out you could see that his car was completely burned down, ours just covered in ash. While talking to police and firefighters a man ran up and said he saw what happened. He was recording the cars to show his friends and caught a guy driving off with a gas pump still in his car. The pump sprayed fuel directly into the Huracan’s engine bay and it instantly ignited. Police found the guy that did it and everything will be taken care of. Just thankful we all got away safe and it didn’t escalate into a bigger fire. Video of the van – swipe left

Chalk this up as one more thing that doesn’t happen with EV’s.

You’re right, their battery pack just spontaneously combust and then reignite after being extinguished.

true, the lithium just bursts into flames and incinerates everything inside so fast no one can be helped.

    Shocking negligence.

  • Spyder Hole Fantome

Thats pretty cool how all thats needed is the spray of gasoline to destroy this car… no match or open flame necessary.

I saw a lady in a Jeep in Glenelg Maryland a few years ago driving down the road with the fuel hose still attached to her gas tank…haha that is just something you dont forget seeing. as for this, hey that’s what insurance is for. I wonder how much insurance that mivivan carried, something tells me not enough to cover that kind of car.

How in the name of all that’s holy can you forget to remove the fuel hose and close your filler cap before driving away? That’s sheer idiocy.
