Can The Lamborghini Huracan Performante Beat The McLaren 720S?

The McLaren 720S has made a name for itself as a super fast machine by taking on some serious competition and beating them fair and square.

In fact, only a few cars turned out to be faster than Woking’s latest Super Series model on the drag strip. But with 2.9sec needed for the 0-100km/h (0-62mph) sprint, and a top speed of 341km/h (212mph), it’s very easy to see why.

The unofficial drag king, however, was recently challenged by the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. The former Nurburgring record holder is not as impressive as the McLaren 720S, but its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 is very punchy, at 640PS (631hp / 470kW) and 600Nm (443lb-ft) of torque. Neverheless, that’s 80PS (79hp / 59kW) and 170Nm (125lb-ft) of torque shy of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 powering the McLaren.

Thanks to the countless man hours of work that went into it, the Huracan Performante is just as fast to 100km/h (62mph) as is its British rival, but 1.1sec slower to 200km/h (124mph). Flat-out, the Italian supercar does more than 325km/h (201mph).

Lambo’s track-focused supercar does, however, have a big advantage over the 720S: it sports an advanced all-wheel drive system, whereas the McLaren has to make do with rear-wheel drive.

So, this equals the field a bit. Now, let’s check out the following video to see which of the two supercars is faster.

Predictable results. Huracan off the line with the 720 passing later in the race. I LOVE the Huracan but it’s hard to argue against 100 extra HP.

  • Not surprised… I’d like to see them race on a track with the same driver…

    • Vassilis

I think the Lambo would be quicker there.

  • Bo Hanan

Why must McLarens be constantly asked to whip tale?

    • Astonman

  • Zandit75

Regardless of the outcome, the Huracan looks so much sexier than the McLaren!

      I disagree

      • Zandit75

You’re allowed to! I’ll give you my permission this time!! 😛

        • rodriguez256

Thank you kind sir, may I have another?

          • Zandit75

Depends on what you want permission for??!!

  • Dam you McLaren

  • BlackRock

The McLaren driver didn’t launch it properly, you can even see its acceleration is not consistent!
There is no way the Lambo beats the 720s!

  • izzey04

rolling or standing…no prob for McLaren…except when it comes to racing in F1….ha ha ha ha

  • Infinite1

    McLaren for the win

    • Infinite1

Huracan’s good for the low end while the McLaren has the top end.

  • lagunas3ca

Wish they had the real-time speeds listed for both when the 720S took over.

  • Vassilis

Not very surprising really. I’m not quite sure which one I’d have though.
