2019 BMW Z4 Leaks And It Looks Just Like The Concept

Three revealing images of the 2019 BMW Z4 have leaked online, revealing that the sports car will look very similar to last year’s stunning concept.

These pictures, discovered by SupraMVK and published on Bimmer Post, show the front and rear fascias of the new Z4, as well as the car’s side profile. To our eyes, it looks absolutely stunning.

Viewed from the front, the similarities with the Z4 Concept are obvious. The car features the same slim and wide kidney grille and angular headlights. Although the lower air intakes on the production model are significantly smaller than those of the concept, they still look good and are complemented by aggressive lines and creases in the bumper.

At the rear, the Z4, pictured here in M40i guise, wears a pair of slim, horizontal taillights similar to those of the new BMW 8-Series. Like the front, there’s also a healthy dose of angular lines and sharp edges.

Last but not least we come to the side. This particular model is sitting on a set of gloss black wheels and the rear paint brings out the prominent design lines running along the doors. There’s also a small air outlet directly behind the front wheel arches. These images also confirm that the car will have a folding soft top.

Previous reports have suggested that the Z4 M40i will be outfitted with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 380 hp and sit at the top of the Z4 family tree. This variant will also adopt electronically controlled dampers, a bespoke front axle, locking rear differential, and a high-performance braking system.

BMW is remaining coy about the Z4’s release date but all indications point towards it being unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later this month.

    those head lights look familiar

      are you thinking AMG GTS?

      • Six_Tymes

maybe, but those are more raked back. if i think of it ill re-post

        • Astonman

          • Six_Tymes

everyone else did it for me. apparently they were thinking the same as I was.

I do hope both cars (bmw and toyota) turn out to be good, because if sales arent good for both oi these, we might see another reduction in affordable sport cars in the next 5-10 years, i hope that doesn’t happen.

          • Astonman

I agree – just not feeling it with the Supra from what I’ve seen. But here’s hoping!

    • roy

      Suzuki Swift much?

    • roy
      • Able

        Exactly my first thought.

      • Philip George

They’re both red in colour. That’s where the similarity starts and ends.

        • roy

Why don’t you give it another look?

          • Philip George

That’ll be another look too many.

          • roy

In that case, let me help you a bit. The headlamps looks disturbingly similar.

      • Larry Qualls

Now that was my first thought! Before reading, i actually said, oh an updated Fiat!

      • ksegg

Oh god, this was what I thought too. *pukes*

    • Loquacious Borborygmus

      Fiat 124?

  • txsupra11
  • Mr. EP9

Z4 M40i, eh? Ok, I see what BMW is doing. They’re going to show off the high performance model first (with exception to the M8 in the 8 series case) before unveiling the more entry level versions.

  • chippers

    I like it.

    • Bo Hanan

Need to see it in the flesh- first.

  • Nordschleife

I think the red is a horrible color to show this off as I feel you’re going to miss some of the details but maybe maybe I just need higher quality pics.

  • TheBelltower

Looks so close to the concept. But it’s unfortunate how mediocre the production version is with glossy red paint and horsey-looking door handles.

    similar to mx5?

  • SteersUright

Not bad but not an original or coherent design. You can see about 10 other sports cars in there. I wonder if it’ll work better in person. The headlights are terrible, remind me of the ugly ones on the Fiat 124 spider.

  • asphrp

    copycat everywhere

  • GobbleUp

Already looks tired and chopped together. Miss.

    • donald seymour

      Yep pretty much.

    • Andrewthecarguy

      It’s going to struggle.
      This is a fail.

  • MarketAndChurch

I like it, looks better than the Supra based on it.

  • Lloyd Anthony D Peters

These are….bad photos at best. I’m all for leaks. But when it comes to something so anticipated, (namely, a new Supra for me, but I don’t NOT like the Z4…. lol.) I almost wanna say just let it get here naturally.

Because I think BMW will transfer the Concept as best they can onto the road. Hopefully in that matte shade of orange from the concept too.

Waiting suck. But this suck even more.

    • Nordschleife

Agreed people always want leaks but it can spoil the surprise when something is not seen in its best light.

  • ace_9

Concept car is much lower and wider and has more pronounced creases. And that is why the production model looks bland. Not because of the color or “bad photos”.

    • donald seymour

Very true, because the same applies to the 6, I mean the 8 series. The 8 series compared to it’s concept is just trash, simply as that. The concept harkens to true luxury while the 8 series is a very pleasant to look at it doesn’t scream luxury or restraint, but boring and bland.

  • Wandering_Spirit

Except for the front, with headlights stolen from the 124, the rest looks really good.

  • TimeoA

Z4 M40i, eh? Ok, I see what BMW is doing. They’re going to show off the high performance model first (with exception to the M8 in the 8 series case) before unveiling the more entry level versions.

  • fabri99

Eh… it’s ok, I guess, but very generic. And the front bumper is a bit of a mess.

  • Isidora

  • Yilmaz Yasar

the workmanship of the new BMWs’ is so bad that the junctions of the bumpers and hoods of almost all vehicles do not match. look closely at the top of the headlamps .you will see what ı am talking about

  • MJ Coffey

Uuuh, they did water it down a lot. Too bad, as the concept looked just so damn promising to me.

  • driv3r

I have no idea what they have done to the lower front design of the production version. Those huge flowing elements in black and red point towards the wild Lexus design of recent models. The concept car had a very clean, sporty appearance of the front spoiler, the production version looks as if it would feature two big handles at the front. Really BMW?
Only the new three-dimensional L-shaped design of the taillights really start to grow on me on all BMW models featuring these lights (8 series, 7 series LCI, X4, Z4…)

“2019 BMW Z4 Leaks And It Looks Just Like The Concept”
    No it doesn’t.

  • designer_dick

It looks like an appreciably smaller car than its predecessor, and the dash-to-axle ratio is a lot shorter than any previous Z4, which has the effect of giving the car rather stubby, almost FWD proportions.

  • Ruel Lewis

Did anyone notice the license plate. Funny.

  • Big Black Duck

looks like a kia and a Merc had a baby

  • Big Black Duck

Its really starting to look like the Z4 and the Supra are 2 cars people dont want. Sad they both deviated from their concepts

    • donald seymour

      Maybe so, maybe so.

  • MarkoS

Not really the most flattering photos, this is really quite nice. The real question is, is it special enough for the price? Me, I’d take a MX5 Miata RF and take a very nice west coast coastal vacation drive and still have money left.

  • Bash

    Looks like a KIA.

  • Fabián Montiel

Looks very very similar to the concept, why couldn’t BMW do the same with the 8 series? That looks so different compared to the concept.

  • jayet123

if you look at the patent images which show the regular model rather than the M40i shown here, you’ll see that it is actually much closer to the concept that this.

  • Six Thousand Times

    A stunner.

  • Larry Qualls

Again, another watered-down, lukewarm, version of what was an absolutely beautiful concept!

  • Tinky-Winky

Apart from the traditionally ugly bumper I really like it.

  • Carmelo Van Cabboi

  • botornot387

This looks really good. Like better than a Z4 has looked in ever.

  • KidRed

You guys could match rear and sides photos of production and concept in the gallery?

  • Robert

…with a large pig nose and bug eyes. 👎

  • Miknik

“..And It Looks Just Like The Concept”

From 100m, in fog and scratched sun glasses it does. Seriously, all the sharp details of the concept are gone, this looks like a Fiat 124 toned down….

  • Croppo

It looks a lot like a Mercedes!

  • Matthew Boyd

    Ahhh…I’m not mad.

  • ctk4949

That front end, is fuuuuuuuuuuuuugly!!!! Maybe its the orange with black trim, buy ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

  • Smith

What went wrong here. It went from looking like a really cool concept to looking like every other boring BMW. Wouldn’t touch it for free, just sell it for a real car! This is horrible!

  • Galaxium

I never liked the designs for the Z cars (Z-series?)

I can get behind this though.

  • erly5

Not quite like the concept I’m afraid.
