It’s not every day you see a video of something that just looks like a glitch in the Matrix.

This very unlucky camel was reportedly struck head-on by a car near Bikaner in Rajasthan, India, and was trapped inside the vehicle for four hours, trying desperately to escape. The footage shows the animal writhing around, trying to free itself in a mad panic.

According to The Sun, the roof of the silver Toyota Corolla had to be cut open in order for a group of people to successfully remove the camel from the car. Also, at least one of its legs seems broken, although we take comfort in knowing the animal was cared for after it was freed.

“The camel was horribly entangled,” said Rajat Singh, a resident of Bikaner. “Its head popped out of the sun roof of the car.”

Rajasthan is home to 80% of India’s camel population, which has been declining in recent years. In this case, let’s hope others won’t be as unfortunate as to wonder off and stop right in the middle of a highway.

As for the driver, while he was lucky to survive (the camel smashed through the windshield during the impact), he still needed to be taken to the hospital to have his injuries looked at.
