After extending his contract with Mercedes-AMG Petronas for the 2019 and 2020 F1 seasons, Lewis Hamilton is now starring in a new ad that promotes the new GT 4-Door Coupe.

In the company of other Mercedes-AMG GTs on the track, including the GT S, GT R and the GT3 and GT4 racers, the new 4-Door Coupe, with Hamilton behind the wheel, shows that it’s very capable in between the apexes.

Strangely enough, Hamilton wasn’t alone in the cockpit of the brand’s challenger to the likes of the Audi RS7 Sportback, Porsche Panamera Turbo and upcoming BMW M8 Gran Coupe, as he was accompanied by three giant plush toys. We won’t spoil the video for you by telling you why they were there, but it has something to do with the “most important race: LIFE”, in the company’s own words.

The GT 4-Door is one of the most expensive cars currently on sale from Mercedes. It has a €150,119 ($174,212) starting price in Germany, in 63 guise, and €167,017 ($193,822) in the 63 S. Both of them use the same twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that makes 585PS (577hp / 430kW) and 800Nm (590lb-ft) of torque in the former, and 639PS (630hp / 470kW) and 900Nm (664lb-ft) in the latter.

In the S, the 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration is completed in a whopping 3.2 seconds, and top speed goes all the way up to 315km/h (196mph). Now let’s see what the F1 champ is doing with it and what those plush toys are for, shall we?
