2019 Nissan Armada Becomes Even More Compelling Thanks To Newly Standard Safety Tech

The Nissan Armada is often seen as a cut-rate version of the Infiniti QX80 and the 2019 model is an even more compelling proposition.

Currently on sale in the United States, the 2019 Armada has been given a significant technology boost as the SUV now comes standard with an assortment of driver assistance systems which used to be offered as a part of a $2,200 package on the mid-level Armada SL. This results in sizable savings even when you factor in the increased base price of $700.

Among the newly standard systems are Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. As an added bonus, Nissan has thrown in the Rear Door Alert system.

Pricing starts at $46,790 for the Armada SV 4×2 and four-wheel drive is an additional $3,000 regardless of trim level. Since the model largely carries over, the 2019 Armada SV has LED low-beam headlights and 18-inch aluminum wheels. Buyers will also find a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an eight-seat interior and a 13-speaker Bose audio system with a subwoofer. Other highlights include an 8.0-inch NissanConnect infotainment system and a HomeLink universal transceiver.

The Armada SL starts at $51,590 and it comes with leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a power tilt/telescoping steering column. Other niceties include front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, a power liftgate and 20-inch wheels.

The $59,690 Armada Platinum goes even further as it has a power moonroof, leather door trim and a rear seat entertainment system with two 7-inch displays. The model also has additional driver assistance systems including an Intelligent Around View Monitor, Intelligent Distance Control and an Intelligent Rear View Mirror.

The range-topping Armada Platinum Reserve starts at $62,690 which is slightly less than the 2019 Infiniti QX80 which has a base price of $65,100. That’s certainly expensive, but the model has a unique exterior with dark chrome accents and special 20-inch wheels. Inside, there’s two-tone leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats and second row captain’s chairs.

Regardless of which model is selected, all Armadas are powered by a 5.6-liter V8 engine that develops 390 hp (290 kW / 395 PS) and 394 lb-ft (533 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission which enables the SUV to return up to 14 mpg city, 19 mpg highway and 16 mpg combined.

Note: Prices exclude a destination and handling fee of $1,395

I misread “cut-rate” as “cute rat.”

    ‘Even more compelling’

    Good joke…

    • BGM

As in *syphilis is more compelling than genital warts*.

  • SpongeBob99Swell

Compelling enough to be a high contender to one of the absolute laziest redesigns of all-time… so much so that it’ll age terribly… and quickly…

    …and that’s saying a lot.

Taking an aging 8-year old Infiniti QX50, and end up calling this a fresh new redesign from the ground-up….

…you guys at Nissan had ONE job all right…

    • Kash

to be fair, the QX80 was just a badge engineered Nissan Patrol from the middle east. lol. So this design is already quite well aged, but unlike cheese, wine, and other liquors, car designs don’t typically get better with age.

    • BGM

From the 1980s derived front to the Kardashian butt rear bumper this thing is a fail on so many levels.

Feature by feature, SV is hilariously under priced for what you get. Even the “base” SV comes standard with… v8 engine, forward collision, power tilt telescoping steering, dual power seats, heated seats, bose 13 speaker, power folding mirror, front, rear parking, indie double wishbone front and back, etc… Nissan also under priced 370z… yet no one buys it.

    • BlackPegasus

A well optioned 370Z was overpriced when it was introduced which is why I passed on it.

    Gosh that thing is ugly
