Since Mercedes-AMG themselves referred to the hypercar as the ‘Project ONE’ only last week, when they revealed a prototype testing, we’ll take this new information with a grain of salt for now.
Meanwhile, the German car brand invited ONE buyers to a private event in Munich, with a formal dinner preceded by closer viewings of the hypercar. The customers also got to configure their hypercar, which will be made in just 275 examples – and all are already spoken for.
The initial starting price of the Mercedes-AMG ONE is €2.27 million, which equals to $2,67 million at the current exchange rates. The first units are expected to be delivered in 2019, and production will take place in the United Kingdom.
So far, we know that Mercedes-AMG’s hypercar combines four electric motors with a turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 that’s derived from their Formula 1 program. Official specs have yet to be released, but the powertrain is said to churn out a combined 1,000-1,100 horsepower, thus rocketing the ONE from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in about 2.5 seconds.
