Super sedans have become so fast in recent years that they now offer levels of performance once limited to expensive supercar. Take the BMW M5 Competition and Mercedes-AMG E63 S, for example.

Both of these sedans provide owners and passengers with exceptionally comfortable and spacious cabins and manage to somehow pair these features with truly mindblowing performance. Watching an M5 Competition and E63 S racing in Russia shows this perfectly.

The M5 Competition is the newer of the two models and features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine. This powertrain delivers 617 hp and is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission sending power through all four wheels. Some say that BMW‘s quoted horsepower figure is conservative, however.

In the hands of this Russian driver, the M5 Competition recorded some seriously impressive figures. Once the sedan got off the line, it accelerated from 100-200 km/h (62-124 mph) in a blistering 6.7 seconds and went from 200-250 km/h (124-155 mph) in 6.6 seconds. The 100-200 km/h time is almost on par with fully-fledged supercars like the Lamborghini Huracan and Porsche 911 Turbo S.

When the owner of the Mercedes-AMG E63 S decided to join the BMW for a little fun, the duo put on a show displaying the might of German engineering. Whereas the M5 pumps out 617 hp, the E63 S’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 pumps out 603 hp, giving the BMW a slight edge. It’s little surprise that it walked away victorious

Nonetheless, this serves as a stark reminder that you should never try and drag race cars like these, unless you’re in a hypercar. Oh yeah, and street racing is stupid and dangerous, so next time, these folks need to take it to the drag strip.
