Latest VW Polo Takes On New Fiesta In Supermini Throne Brawl

Despite these two latest-generation superminis offering much-improved comfort, quality and on-board tech compared to their predecessors, each has its own, distinctive characteristics.

Regardless of which one you might think looks better, there are noticeable differences between the Ford and the VW once you get around to properly analyzing what each of these two models brings to the table.

Starting with quality, they’re pretty much equals, however, you do have to swing for an absurdly-priced Fiesta Vignale (from £20,615) in order to get a bit of that premium feel you do in the Polo. Then there’s the not-so-small matter of rear seat comfort, where the Polo appears to be superior to its blue oval-badged rival.

When it comes to handling, one must remember that these are two budget-friendly superminis, so expecting either of them to give you a proper thrill while going around a corner is just unrealistic. However, the Fiesta did make a name for itself by being more fun to drive than its direct rivals, and this latest-gen model is no exception – while also being more quiet, comfortable and easier to maneuver in town than the old Fiesta.

Yet, most people might actually prefer the Polo’s superior practicality to the Fiesta’s handling. During this comparison review by Carwow, the V-Dub proved more comfortable, more spacious and more posh inside. Did it win the duel? Click and find out.
