The all-new, 2019 Suzuki Jimny is almost ready to go on sale in the United Kingdom.
Order books for the small SUV will open on New Year’s Day, with the base model starting at £15,499 ($19,910/€17,420). That’s about £750 ($963/€843) more than its predecessor, and £200 ($257/€225) more than the similarly-sized, entry-level Renault Captur.
For the money, customers will get standard air conditioning, DAB radio and cruise control. The equipment list has yet to be fully detailed, but in Germany, the most affordable 2019 Jimny also features Bluetooth connectivity, electrically adjustable side mirrors, height adjustable multi-function steering wheel and others.
Besides the SZ4 trim level, the new Jimny will also be available in the SZ5 grade. Pricing for this flavor, which adds heated front seats, touchscreen infotainment, navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and climate control, starts at £17,999 ($23,121/€22,230).
The sole engine option is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder that puts out 102 PS (101 hp / 75 kW) and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque, and comes with either a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic gearbox.
With the manual, the 2019 Jimny is said to return 41.5 mpg UK (6.8 l/100 km / 34.6 mpg US), while with the auto 37.6 mpg UK (7.5 l/100 km / 31.3 mpg US) in the NEDC cycle.
