2019 Suzuki Jimny Priced From £15,499 In The UK

The all-new, 2019 Suzuki Jimny is almost ready to go on sale in the United Kingdom.

Order books for the small SUV will open on New Year’s Day, with the base model starting at £15,499 ($19,910/€17,420). That’s about £750 ($963/€843) more than its predecessor, and £200 ($257/€225) more than the similarly-sized, entry-level Renault Captur.

For the money, customers will get standard air conditioning, DAB radio and cruise control. The equipment list has yet to be fully detailed, but in Germany, the most affordable 2019 Jimny also features Bluetooth connectivity, electrically adjustable side mirrors, height adjustable multi-function steering wheel and others.

Besides the SZ4 trim level, the new Jimny will also be available in the SZ5 grade. Pricing for this flavor, which adds heated front seats, touchscreen infotainment, navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and climate control, starts at £17,999 ($23,121/€22,230).

The sole engine option is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder that puts out 102 PS (101 hp / 75 kW) and 130 Nm (96 lb-ft) of torque, and comes with either a standard five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic gearbox.

With the manual, the 2019 Jimny is said to return 41.5 mpg UK (6.8 l/100 km / 34.6 mpg US), while with the auto 37.6 mpg UK (7.5 l/100 km / 31.3 mpg US) in the NEDC cycle.

I can’t love it enough really.

I really like this car, but it’s strange to compare it with Renault Captur…the Captur is a cross-over, this is the real deal small SUV.

Almost complete, meaning no lockers, no skid plates, etc? This is a fun little off roader, but it’s not in the same league as a true off roader.

        Hence “almost”.

Toyota should import Suzukis to the US as Scions.

    • kachuks

There’s not a chance in all of Satan’s hell that something this affordable will ever be sold again in the US.

      • EM1

With added safety features to meet US regs, it will make it a bit more expensive.

Scion is dead and has been for some time now.

      • EM1

Aware of that but importing Suzukis as “Scions” might be smart if they can add additional safety features.

This Jimny is just spot on

Someone who wants something small, economical on mpg’s and the wallet, with usable off-road capabilities.

Have you seen the market for used samurai/sidekick/tracker?

  • Paul

I like it. Too bad they cant get that partnership thing a going again and bring it to the US. Make it have the safety features and crash worthiness of course.

  • EM1

I saw it in Japan, loved it.

  • Greg

I really wish manufacturers would ditch the SUV ( bog standard cars with big bodies) and return to the real off roaders, where no track was too wild, no surface unpassable and scratching the paintwork wasn’t even a thought.

Somehow this gets it for me….underpowered as it is.
