BMW X7 Configurator Is Live, How Will You Spec Yours?

Following the unveiling the X7 nearly two months ago, BMW has launched the configurator of its flagship SUV in the United States.

Available at this link, it allows users to select between two models, the xDrive40i and xDrive50i, priced from $73,900 and $92,600, respectively.

The first one uses a 3.0-liter turbo-six, rated at 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and 330 lb-ft (445 Nm) of torque. 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes 5.8 seconds and top speed for the U.S.-spec is 130 mph (209 km/h).

Opting for the more expensive version unlocks the larger twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8. The engine produces 456 horsepower (462 PS / 340 kW) and 479 pound-feet (648 Nm) of torque, which rockets the BMW X7 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, though top speed is restricted at 130mph here too.

The M Sport version of the car has an MSRP of $96,150 in the X7 xDrive50i , which gets five color choices, including the Black Sapphire Metallic worn the by the example pictured here, and 21-inch wheels wrapped in all-season runflat tires, or optional 22s.

Choosing only the best for the automaker’s flagship SUV bumps the price by $3,700 in the upholstery department. But that’s only the beginning, as going for the Piano Black or BMW Individual fine-wood trim ash grain silver grey high gloss requires spending another $1,080.

The real money, however, are in the Packages category, which allows users to go through and check some expensive options. And the final leg of the journey takes them through the optional extras.

Choosing everything for the BMW X7 lifts the price to $121,430, which could get buyers two M2s or a well-equipped M5.

Spec’ing mine ? I’m still laughing at how BMW executives could let such a design pass through with that beaver grille.

      They have done that always.

Hahah I’ll take any other competitor over this hideous one lol NEXT

I won’t spec one. That is a really ugly vehicle and I have way more class than to be caught in a German GM product. Terrible.

I just don’t see how the Range Rover will ever top this.

Saw this thing in LA, overdesigned piece of trash. Unbelievable how bad it looks in person. -Former BMW owner, never again

That utterly ginormous snout has to be redesigned. It totally breaks up the flow of the front end. Is it absolutely necessary for them to be THAT large?

    • Cobrajet

It fits perfect with the rest of the car. If they made it smaller it would leave too much empty space and they would have to make bumper taller.

I spec’d mines the same way I did with the Ranger Rover Evoque; image not available.

Everyone is waxing poetic about the grille. Yet most of its competitors have same size or bigger grilles. I understand it is hard to imagine on a BMW, but it is part of the design, get over it. This will sell like hot cakes. The GLS must show up strong with its interior design otherwise it wont dent this. BMW is smart offering a 6 cyl at a price point that still looks good. For a seven seater, this is the most lux at the moment. The next smart option would be a diesel for the US market, ditto a plug-in hybrid with decent range and smart utilization design.
