New 2019 Mercedes-Benz G350d Costs A Whopping £94,000 In The UK

Now that order books are open, potential buyers for the new Mercedes-Benz G350d will need to spend upwards of £94,000 ($119,700) in the UK in order to purchase their diesel-powered German luxury SUV.

In hindsight, the G350d is equipped with the most powerful diesel engine ever to be fitted to a G-Class, with an output of 286 PS (282 HP) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.4 seconds and max out at 124 mph (200 km/h).

Standard features include 20-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels, LED headlights, the mirror package (electrically adjustable and heated mirrors), leather seats, 12.3-inch cockpit display and 12.3-inch infotainment display, ambient lighting (choice of 8 colors), AMG body styling, electrically adjustable heated front seats with memory function, heated rear seats, keyless-go, automatic three-zone climate control and chrome trim elements for the radiator grille.

You also get automatic driver aids at no extra cost, such as blind spot assist, active distance assist and active lane keeping assist.

Of course, if you’d like even more tech, then you can opt for any of the optional packages available. Take the Premium package for example, which in return for £5,995 ($7,636) offers you a Multibeam intelligent light system, Adaptive air suspension, Burmester sound system, interior air ionization, ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colors, sliding sunroof and the parking package with 360-degree camera.

Then there’s the £1,700 ($2,165) Night package, which adds black 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloys, darkened indicators and taillights, black radiator grille, black exterior mirrors, heat-insulating dark-tinted glass and a black spare wheel rig. Meanwhile, the Winter package costs £1,750 ($2,230) and offers a heated windshield and auxiliary heater with remote. The heated steering wheel is available together with the Winter package for £275 ($350).

Finally, you have the Rear Seat Entertainment package, available for £2,995 ($3,815). It comes with two 10-inch touchscreen displays, a digital TV tuner, integral media player and internet access.

No prob. Someone will order 10 and then declare bankruptcy. The European economy is supposed to be in even worse shape than the US by the end of this year, according to the financial mags like Kiplinger’s. Oh no, what WILL the designers at M-B, BMW and Audi do with all that free time instead of revealing a new model every day? Sit in a bar, probably and commiserate.

That’s almost £12,000 more than the cheapest Range Rover. I’m sure it’s a good car but that’s a lot of money.
