You don’t need four wheels to go on display at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, as Nissan’s Juke Personalization Adventure Concept showcases with a set of tracks, looking like a mix between a snowmobile and a Mars rover.

According to Nissan, the concept can handle itself just as well on snow as it can over gravel surfaces, although you’ll have to use your imagination in order to see it in action since the automaker isn’t planning on building something like this anytime soon.

A capable explorer

In order for this high-riding crossover to not look too weird (ahem…), Nissan fitted extended wheel arches that are positioned right above those seriously wide tracks. In fact, without the extreme arches, this might have ended up looking like a tiny, snow-loving monster truck.

Other visual features include the dual-tone matte white and frosted black exterior with light green accents. This Juke also comes with additional LED lights, tow hooks and a utility roof rack, which also serves as a landing pad for drones.

As for what powers those tracks in the first place, it’s a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol unit, good for 190 PS (187 HP) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. It may not sound like much, but it should suffice when it comes to driving/crawling across slippery or rugged surfaces at low speeds.

The 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon runs between Friday, January 11 through Sunday, January 13, and is located at the Makuhari Messe convention center.
