Woman Goes To Check Hyundai Inside Showroom, Somehow Drives It Through The Window!

A car shopper at a Hyundai dealership in Mandi, India has been left red-faced after crashing an Elite i20 out of the showroom.

Dealer showrooms are a place where new and pre-owned vehicles are shown to customers. They are not a place to perform test drives in. However, that’s exactly what the woman in the following video did after jumping behind the wheel of the hatchback.

CCTV footage, captured on February 18, shows the shopper sitting in the Hyundai Elite i20 as a dealership employee talks with her parents next to the vehicle.

The customer seems to have been handed a key by the salesman, perhaps to check out some of the vehicle’s interior functions. Suddenly, the woman hits the accelerator pedal and drives straight out of the showroom. In the process, she smashes through a large glass window and drops down about 3 feet before rear-ending two Hyundais in the dealerships parking area.

The carnage only ended after the woman slammed into these two other Hyundai models.

Local publication Drives Park speculates that the woman may have turned on the vehicle’s engine and accidentally hit the accelerator pedal and kept the throttle pinned in a panic. If this is what happened, the car shopper may have also disengaged the handbrake.

Total damages caused in the accident are thought to be in the region of 400,000 Indian Rupees or $5,630 at current exchange rates. For the sake of the customer’s bank account, we hope the dealership’s insurance policy includes coverage for things like this.

If not, then she may not be getting a new Hyundai until she proves to her parents that she can drive…

After careful consideration, I do believe this is not the car for me said the lady

    • Loquacious Borborygmus

What is its safety rating….oh sod it! I’ll find out for myself!

  • Bash

Chance are she is now freaked out from driving and won’t be driving any more at all.

    • paulgdeaton

The world should only be so lucky…

  • TrevP

“Somehow drives it through the window” yea she started it, put her foot on the brake, changed the gear into drive and pressed the gas pedal. That was too smooth to make me believe the car has a manual gearbox. It takes several steps to get a car to move.

    • Matteo Tommasi

That car isn’t sold with auto

      • TrevP

I stand corrected. So then it could have been in gear, but that would cause the car to jump, right? So that means she must have known what she was doing which means shes a moron.

      • paulgdeaton

Does that car have a starter lockout when the car is in gear? If not… that could be the problem.

  • Adilos Nave

She appears to still have foot pressed firmly on the accelerator even after smashing through the window and hitting the other cars because it’s STILL moving. Christ people, there is a simple push-button lever for selecting gear (not complex!) and two big pedals. It’s not super complicated. If you can’t figure that out then you definitely shouldn’t be commanding a 2-ton moving object down the road at 60mph.

    • Matteo Tommasi

      Manual man
Auto is not a thing on B-segment cars

      • I’m sure the car was automatic.

  • LJ

She drove it through a window, dropped 4 feet and then rear ended another vehicle, and the airbags never deployed.

    • Loquacious Borborygmus

      Aren’t airbags extra there?

  • sidewaysspin

It’s so good she wanted to have it immediately.

  • Matthew Daraei

She drives it to her territory, a kitchen!

  • Stephen G

So much for the Autonomous Emergency Braking System.

  • Gullet

$5,600 sounds like a bargain to me.

  • KAG25

Did she just turn on the car and floor it.
Shouldn’t be driving but it is India

    • LeStori

She drives better than many others from India I have seen on the roads.

      • KAG25

        So, high death count

  • Bill Nguyen

    Damn these newfangled autonomous cars!

  • blunt-o

She must have been thinking of something else. Over spiced chicken curry is known to cause severe car accidents.

    • Perry F. Bruns

      And severe pants accidents.

  • paulgdeaton

    Woman. Driver.

    Need I say more?

    • brn

      Yes, you need say more.

  • Dennis Scipio

    Mmm… that sucks.

  • karmat

For that price, they must be planning on replacing the window, respraying a few bumpers and selling the car as new.

  • LeStori

Loved the Sales person putting their hands over their ears. Now that will save the day…

  • Paul

By the way it continued on after falling from the showroom floor, I’d say she knows nothing of brakes either or was so flabbergasted she she couldn’t use them.

    • Perry F. Bruns

But what a testament to the suspension!

      • Paul

That too. It did pretty good considering the flop it took.

  • SORRY BUT I GOT A CHUCKLE OUT OF THIS.

  • Gooseman

sweet! Looks like something out of a Jason Bourne movie..

  • Harry_Wild

Now it is in showroom condition!q

  • Perry F. Bruns

I’m also a Floridian, and while I do see my fair share of Hyundai tailgaters, I think part of that is that BMW drivers are cutting them (and me) off.

  • bd0007

Worst by far are Toyota drivers.

There’s a reason why there’s such a thing as a Camry Dent Registry.
