Negligent Jeep Driver Swerves Into Truck, Flips Over Causing Huge Wreck In Illinois

If you see something, say something. Simple words to live by, right? This is especially true in traffic, where you might just end up saving somebody’s life by reporting what you’ve seen to the authorities.

The driver of this dashcam-equipped SUV saw a white Jeep weaving through multiple lanes and decided to take it upon himself to assess the situation and report his findings to the Illinois State Police. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse.

About 15-seconds into the video below, the Jeep can be seen drifting wide outside of its lane, before its driver attempts to merge back, bumping into a black Cadillac Escalade. As a result, the Jeep skidded for a split second and rammed into a semi truck, flipping over.

Apparently, the driver of the Jeep managed to walk away with only a few scrapes and bruises, while also asking people if they saw him get hit by the black SUV.

“I walked up to him after he said he was hit and I was like ‘No dude you’re wasted, you HIT them!'” – said the driver of the dashcam vehicle while discussing what happened. “I think he was on a combo of pills and booze but as others have stated I shouldn’t jump to a conclusion. As I was driving next to him earlier he was nodding out, but after the accident it seemed like he was on speed.”

In the end, that person should consider themselves lucky, even though he probably won’t feel that way after the authorities will inflict whichever legal punishment they deem appropriate.

From the dash-cam driver:

I saw this guy going in out of lanes for miles and pulled up next to him and sure enough he was nodding out behind the wheel. I immediately called it in to the police and oddly enough my gut told me I should record this guy in case anything happened. About 5 minutes later the guy crashes into the side of the black SUV causing his Jeep to flip multiple times hitting two other cars.

I pull over and go up to the accident after I stop recording and the guy to my amazement is asking everyone if they saw HIM get hit by the black SUV… this guy was so wasted he was convinced he was the one who was hit! I thought I’d show the world what happens when you drive drunk or intoxicated because it’s never worth it. People can wind up seriously hurt and injured, or worse. I did everything I could to prevent this accident from happening aside from putting my own life on the line and stopping the guy with my 4Runner.

Forgive my obnoxious screaming of, “Oh my god” multiple times, I was in the heat of the moment shock-wise. Thankfully no one was hurt other than a few scrapes and bruises, including the intoxicated driver of the Jeep.

Note: You should turn down the volume of your speakers for this one

He stood no chance against the ESV. The reason I drive an SUV

    • Dylan Wentworth

They seem to flip over rather easily.

      • TrevP

Perhaps. Some are better than others at keeping their feet planted.

  • SemperMalvinas

Drunk driver totally at fault here, but that Escalade made an illegal lane change. The lane wasn’t clear and they still proceeded to change lanes.

    • TrevP

the Jeep got what he deserved, it could have ended way worse.

    • Trey Bellamy

The lane was clear and even if that Jeep was merging into the lame at the same time as the Escalade, the Escalade driver would have the right of way because it is merging from the left lane!

      • TRB0T0Y

The lane was not clear. The Jeep had already begun to merge into the lane before the Escalade did. Setting aside contempt for the Jeep guy, it does appear he had established control of the lane by merging into it first. The Escalade didn’t check his blind spot and caused the wreck.

        • TrevP

the Jeep was going to plow across all of the lanes whether the Escalade was there or not.

OMG should be enough once. 😬

  • salamOOn

OMG dude you are annoying with all that OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG…..!

People are so dramatic when they know they’re being filmed.

      • Dylan Wentworth

Try witnessing a traumatic event and let us know how many times you say it.

        • LJ

I’ve witnessed a worse crash happen right in front of me and I didn’t say a word.

          • Dylan Wentworth

I guess I’ll have to just take your word for it since I didn’t see your video.

          • LJ

It was years ago on a country road with a notoriously dangerous bend. The RAV-4 in front of me wasn’t paying attention and the two right side wheels dipped off the road into the gravel. The driver over corrected and ended up flipping it twice. It landed on its wheels, somehow, and the driver actually pulled it off to the side of the road after. I stayed with her until the paramedics arrived. She was ok, thankfully.

          • Dylan Wentworth

That’s a great story but you could have really embellished it a lot and I wouldn’t know .

          • LJ

            I actually left stuff out.

          • paulgdeaton

You mean the part about “you were stalking her”, and that is why she was trying to get away?

  • Dylan Wentworth

Those crossover bubble cars sure do tip over easy.

  • TrevP

    ok

  • ctk4949

Why was his V1 going crazy like that?? lol

The Jeep guy was driving like he was drunk.
