For those that think the BMW M2 Competition just isn’t quite special enough, the German car manufacturer is working on an even more performance-focused variant of the sports car, this time dubbed the M2 CS.

The car has been spied testing in prototype guise on a number of occasions and most recently, one example was outed during a series of tests at Germany’s Nurburgring. Camouflage may be present from head-to-toe but a series of aggressive parts are visible on this tester.

For starters, we can see that the car is outfitted with a model-specific carbon fiber hood with a prominent power bulge. There is also thought to be a carbon fiber roof hiding beneath the camouflage as well as a pair of carbon fiber mirror caps. The rear of the sports car also supports a small yet aggressive trunklid lip spoiler which looks bound to give the car an obvious visual edge over the M2 Competition.

Information which recently found its way online indicates that the BMW M2 CS will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six as the M2 Competition as well as the M3 and M4 before it. However, the car manufacturer is expected to increase power of the vehicle so it delivers an impressive 450 hp. Another important performance modification made to the car will be the fitment of adaptive suspension which has the potential to improve the handling abilities of the M2 even further.

According to those with inside information about the vehicle, production will be capped at 2200 units worldwide with production set to commence in March 2020.
