Demand For Aston Martin’s Upcoming AM-RB 003 Greatly Outstripping Supply

Aston Martin has announced that there demand for its upcoming AM-RB 003 greatly exceeds scheduled supply, which will force it to start selecting which customers will be able to buy the ‘Son of Valkyrie.’

“We now have the task of allocating to our customers from an ever-growing list,” chief executive Andy Palmer said in the first quarter financial report published by the British car manufacturer. Aston Martin will build just 500 units of the car worldwide.

Carscoops exclusively revealed in early April that the AM-RB 003 will be powered by a turbocharged hybridized V6 with a total output of 1000 HP. Power will be sent to the tarmac via an 8-speed, F1-inspired dual-clutch transmission and a limited-slip differential.

Underpinning the Son of Valkyrie will be a full carbon fiber monocoque which will allow for a curb weight of less than 1,350 kg (2,976 lbs). Aston Martin is targeting a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 2.5 seconds as well as a top speed of more than 220 mph (354 km/h).

The AM-RB 003 will sport e-AWD, active suspension, platform control, active ride height, and damping systems derived from the Valkyrie.

Buying an AM-RB 003 won’t come cheap , with U.S. prices to start at approximately $1.1 million. Securing a build slot in the States requires customers to cough up $300,000, while deliveries aren’t scheduled to commence until 2021.

Those who don’t make the cut for the AM-RB 003, though, may want to “settle” for the new Vanquish, the company’s answer to the McLaren 720S and Ferrari F8 Tributo.

Well that’s good news! The One-77 was a slow sales mover – glad to see they honed in on what customers were after.

    • Slow sale mover? They made 77 of them, were sold out at Paris with a fake car, only one journalist could put his hands on one because he knew an owner. Aston didn’t even keep one prototype for jounalist as a marketing tool.

I’m not affected at all by this news. I actually like the Vanquish more design wise, and in the performance area is just right. The 003 would be too much for my clumsy reflexes
