2019 Honda NSX and Honda E Confirmed For Goodwood Festival Of Speed

Honda is bringing the 2019 NSX and the battery-electric E Prototype at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed for their UK debuts.

Both models will be on static display on the company’s stand, with the full-electric Honda E Prototype to also make its dynamic debut up the famous hill climb.

While the actual production Honda E will be unveiled later this year, both prototypes at the Festival of Speed are 95 percent true to it. Honda has already invited customers to place their a reservation for their first all-electric model, which will also feature rear-view door cameras as standard.

First Drive: Updated 2019 Acura NSX Proves Itself At The Track

One of the highlights of the Honda E is the cabin; the Japanese car maker opted for the lounge-like atmosphere of the widely-praised concept, giving the E a dashboard dominated by five displays positioned next to each other for a very impressive wide-screen effect.

Honda hasn’t revealed any technical details yet on the E hatchback, letting us know that it will be capable of travelling for over 124 miles (200km) before requiring a recharge and be able to fast charge up to 80 percent of its capacity in 30 minutes.

Honda UK has also secured a “very limited” supply of the 2019 NSX, which features a range of upgrades under the skin. These include stiffer stabilizer bars and bushings, as well as software updates to the all-wheel drive system, power steering and active dampers, among other.

Honda has also updated the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with new injectors, a particulate filter and better heat protection for the turbos. The power output of the hybrid powertrain however remains unchanged, at 573hp (581PS) and 476lb-ft (645Nm) of torque.

I think the window buttons & interior door handles should be in dark silver grey color, similar to what you would see in Minis. Dark plastics don’t really do it justice for such as tactile/modern environment it tries to convey.

It’s a shame that with how the NSX was designed Honda backed themselves into a corner and couldn’t release a cheaper (non-hybrid?) model. Spending so much money on a Honda/Acura is what only the most passionate fans of the Japanese engineering are willing to do.
