2020 Hyundai Palisade Starts At $31,550 – Undercuts The Ford Explorer

The 2020 Hyundai Palisade will arrive at US dealerships shortly and the automaker has announced pricing will start at $31,550.

The entry-level Palisade SE features a stylish exterior with a bold grille that is flanked by automatic headlights and LED daytime running lights. Other highlights include privacy glass and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The eight-seat interior is sparely equipped, but owners will find air conditioning and an 8-inch Display Audio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. There’s also a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, second row power folding seats and an underfloor storage compartment.

On the safety front, the model comes standard with Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Parking Distance Warning and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection. Other highlights include Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go and a Rear View Monitor with parking guidelines.

The mid-level Palisade SEL starts at $33,500 and has a more premium appearance thanks to a satin chrome grille and satin chrome door handles with integrated “welcome lights.” The model also has silver roof rails and side mirrors featuring integrated LED turn signals.

The cabin is also more luxurious as it boasts a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats and a dual-zone automatic climate control system with an air ionizer. Other niceties include second row captain’s chairs, power lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat and a proximity key with a push button ignition.

The $44,700 Palisade Limited goes even further as it has a “premium” grille, dual sunroofs and LED lighting units. The model also has a hands-free liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, a self-leveling rear suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will find premium Nappa leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation. Other upgrades include heated / ventilated seats, ambient lighting and a wireless smartphone charger. Rounding out the highlights are power third row seats, a head up display, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system and an 8-way power driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar adjustment.

Unfortunately the Hyundai logo just kills it for me. It’s got to be one of the worst designed logos ever.. put the Genesis logo on this please.

    • wccw

Try giving it a test drive. Who knows. If you like the car enough, it might change your mind. Or you can delete the badges if you really like the car.

a stick-on Mercedes or Lexus logo costs about $1.99 on ebay, ship from China.

    • ChrisInIL

I have been looking at these, and I decided against buying one because I didn’t like the tire valve caps. They are hideous!

      • rodriguez256

You decided against it because the valve caps? Am I missing something here?

Genesis will be getting its own (but RWD) CUVs, so not going to happen; but yeah, would do Hyundai good to redesign their logo.

The Hyundai Logo is good. IT’S KIA that needs to redesign the Logo

Does anyone know why the small light diode between the upper headlight and lower headlight doesn’t exist in the N.A. version but exists elsewhere? Is this for regulatory reasons?

    • wccw

In Korea where Hyundai is from, there is a regulation on the distance between the lights. They added the additional light in between to decrease the gap while making it a design feature. From what I know it is a Korean market specific spec. I don’t know why they didn’t just make the Korean version default and went through the trouble of making different versions for the different market though.

  • Rocket

I don’t care for the grille, but there’s no denying Hyundai brought a healthy dose of character to the segment. I’d still take the Explorer or Telluride, but I think the Palisade will do quite well.

    • bd0007

Would have been better w/ less chrome around the bottom part.

    • A 🤴🏻 THAT WILL RULE OVER YOU

The exploder is super uncomfortable especially that third row seats

      • Rocket

Given that the Explorer is all-new and not yet available, I’m going to wager you haven’t sampled any of the seats.

        • A 🤴🏻 THAT WILL RULE OVER YOU

Did you not see the video of the new exploder third row seats? If you think this thing is comfortable, then you’re a fool

lets not be so harsh here…

  • Paul

I’m not too keen on the new grille on these Hyundai’s, but think the Palisade over all is a mighty swanky ride. I like it.

  • TheBelltower

The grille is ridiculous, but that’s the way SUV designs are lately. Overall, this is a nice rig. $33.5k is a great price. Though $45k is getting silly for a Hyundai, these will be a good deal once buyers start negotiating with dealers.

    • bd0007

$45k is the NORM for the top trim of a midsize CUV these days.

The Honda Pilot Elite is $48k and the Palisade has more tech/amenities as well as a more luxurious interior.

Kia stopped taking orders for the top SXP trim of the Telluride, as demand was so great – there is a 4 month wait.

      • ksegg

Agreed. I’ve already accepted that $40-45K is now the new “normal” for a new vehicle. Which makes a $62K BMW M2 Competition the bargain of the century for a new performance car.

I LOVE THAT GRILL. I really do. In fact – I think this is one of the nicest looking SUV’s. Inside and out. Far nicer than the Telluride.

    • MayTheBestCarWin05

Looks are subjective no doubt. I find the exterior to be over designed and ugly for the sake of saying “look we’re different”.

    • Navigator Navy✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ🍑

The Telluride has a lot of hard plastics inside its interior.

      • Craig

Not only that…. the Telluride’s CONCEPT front end is so much nicer looking. As it is… it looks like a Chinese made Chevy Tahoe wannabe.

  • Jørn-tommy Skjellnes

cheaper than a bace ford kuga with fwd cost i Norway, lucky americans

  • Bash

    Looks amazing. Like a Cadillac.

    • Navigator Navy✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ🍑

I don’t see any Cadillac in this from the past or present.

  • Navigator Navy✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ🍑

Though, it seems like the Hyundai Palisade was influenced by the new 2020 Big Mack rig trucks with its front fascia, this vehicle still (in my opinion) looks 3xs better than its Kia Telluride variant; moreover, if this first-ever Palisade has traditional head and tail lights and not something that was inspired by aliens than this vehicle would have been one of my picks, among others. Also, the interior has a nice and clean finish. The faux wood looks good and not overly done. And the range-topper undercuts Kia’s Sorento SXL by $2k and it looks bigger than the Sorento, but the engine seems to be very much underpowered rather than giving it the twin-turbo 3.3L V-6 that is shared with the Genesis G80.
