Top Gear’s 27th series kicked off over the past weekend with Chris Harris having the opportunity to sample the Ferrari 488 Pista on the show.

The clip below is a snippet of the full review and while it’s only 3-minutes long, it’s pretty clear that the seasoned journalist is pretty impressed by the latest and greatest mid-engined V8 Ferrari.

One thing Harris particularly likes about the 488 Pista is its use of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control 6.0 system which makes the car an absolute joy to drive sideways. Not everything receives the thumbs up from the Top Gear host, though. For example, Harris isn’t particularly impressed with the interior of the Italian supercar, noting that it’s virtually identical to the decade-old 458 Italia. He probably won’t be very pleased by the cabin of the F8 Tributo which again, is very similar to the 458.

What really makes the 488 Pista special is its powertrain. The car is outfitted with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the 488 Challenge which pumps out 711 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. It can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.85 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.6 seconds and continue through to a top speed exceeding 340 km/h (211 mph).

This isn’t the first time that Harris has driven the 488 Pista as earlier this year, he had the opportunity to try it out it at Fiorano for the ‘Chris Harris Drives’ series on YouTube. If you want a more in-depth look from him on the car, check out that review here.
