On July 18, the C8-generation Chevrolet Corvette will be unveiled but thanks to renderings by Chazcron from the Mid Engine Corvette Forum, we already have an excellent idea of what the new supercar will look like.

Just a few days ago, we shared a host of new C8 Corvette renderings with you, revealing the vehicle’s striking looks in stunning detail. Now we have a video rendering of the C8 Corvette which shows off the car in convertible guise.

Chevrolet has yet to say if a convertible version of the C8 Corvette is on the cards but we know that it is. What we don’t yet know for sure is whether or not the C8 Corvette Convertible will have a folding soft top like the C7 or instead, a retractable hardtop. This clip imagines the ‘Vette with a hardtop which can be folded away in a similar fashion to the roof of the McLaren 720S Spider and other rivals.

At the touch of a button, the car’s engine cover pops up and the roof mechanism begins to slide backwards. The roof then drops down directly behind the passenger cell before the engine cover closes. Convertibles don’t always look as good as their coupe counterparts but the buttresses of the C8 rendered do make it quite appealing to the eye.

Chevrolet is expected to present the C8 Corvette in entry-level guise on July 18 in Orange County, California. Carscoops understands this model will retain the Stingray name of the outgoing car and feature a mid-ship 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine with approximately 500 hp.
