The new Shelby GT500 may be the most powerful ‘Stang you can buy right now, but the GT350 still holds a very special place in perrolheads’ hearts.

The pony car is fitted with one of the finest V8s Ford has ever built for one of its road cars. Displacing 5.2 liters and featuring a flat-plane crank, it pumps out 526 HP and produces an absolutely intoxicating sound. We’re such big fans of the GT350 that we’re not sure if this twin-turbocharged example is cool or not.

On the one hand, we do appreciate seeing epic twin-turbocharger builds – and this one has fruitful results. In fact, this GT350 delivers an extraordinary 1,348 HP at the rear wheels (!), making the Shelby GT500’s 760 HP seem benign in comparison. Not only have the turbochargers increased power significantly, but they haven’t really had a detrimental impact on the glorious sound of the engine.

However, knowing how fine the engine of the GT350 is, we do understand that purists might object (just a little bit…) over messing with it. Mind you, there are also hand-built headers, a new fuel pump, upgraded ECU, a carbon fiber driveshaft and a massive intercooler.

All in all, not bad. Not bad at all…
