Chevrolet has released a video teasing the upcoming 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible and the new C8.R racer, confirming that both will be launched this fall.

The American car manufacturer previewed both the C8 Convertible and C8.R car during the hardtop’s global premiere a couple of weeks ago.

The video below shows the C8.R racer being put through its paces on a racetrack with its V8 heard screaming and bold aerodynamic elements differentiating it from the road-going model. As for the new Corvette Convertible, it is only shown posing in a warehouse and not on the street.

While we knew these two new variants of the new Corvette were on the cards, it is a little surprising that they will be unveiled in the coming few months as, ordinarily, droptop versions are often released 12 months or so after their coupe counterparts.

The C8.R will replace the C7.R in various racing series around the world and features a towering rear wing, additional lights below the road car’s headlights, bespoke wing mirrors as well as racing wheels and tires. Like any other racing car, the interior will be striped and sport only the bare essentials. There will be a digital gauge cluster, a central screen which acts as a rear-view camera, and a racing steering wheel loaded with buttons and switches.

It remains to be seen what will power the C8.R, but we understand it may feature a turbocharged unit instead of the naturally-aspirated 5.5-liter V8 of the C7.R.
