Would You Pay $100k For A 2020 Supra Launch Edition? Baltimore Dealer Thinks So

A Toyota dealer in Baltimore is offering a brand new 2020 Supra Launch Edition for a nice, round $100,000 – an eye-watering markup of $42k over list.

The Launch Edition of the new Supra is limited to 1,500 examples and distinguishes itself with little touches like high-contrast red mirror caps, forged matte black alloys, carbon details and a pretty loaded list of equipment.

The specific example, offered by Jerry’s Toyota, is finished in Nocturnal Black over a red leather interior and as every Launch Edition, it comes with a numbered carbon fiber plaque, so you’ll always know that your Supra is more special than the others.

Still, power comes from the same turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six sourced from BMW, that’s rather conservatively rated at 335hp and 364lb-ft (494Nm) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is the only option.

The new Supra is one of the most anticipated new cars launched this year, so it was only a matter of time until dealer markups made their appearance. Any recent hyped performance car has gone up the same road, whether it was the Honda Civic Type R, the Ford Focus RS or a number of special Mustangs, Porsches etc. – so we’re not that surprised.

Maybe this car is like the Alfa 4C, ugly in photos and attractive in person?

    • Six_Tymes

wishful thinking. just look at the bulbous out of proportion rear fenders, look at the horrendous rear end, with ugly sad rear lights. No way this looks good in person. The ONLY detail that looks good, is the SUPRA logo, that’s it.

    • TheAmerican2point0

The front is kinda ugly but the rest is pretty good in real life

  • robotlogic

Don’t you mean the 2020 BMW Z4 Supra Edition?

    • Ben

      The BMW is slower.

      • Sovereignty

There’s folks out there with E60s that reach 700bhp and F10s that have 1000bhp. It doesn’t take too much to boost the power.

        • Ben

Are we talking about aftermarket, because I wasn’t. I was talking stock for stock.

          • Sovereignty

You may have been talking about stock, but it doesn’t take much to change it.

          • Jason Miller

In that case it doesn’t take much to boost the Supra either and keep it in front.

          • Sovereignty

True, but the Supra will always remain a BMW by-product.

  • khc

‘Looks like I’ve found a way to view the new Supra without finding it repulsive – all black!

    • TheAmerican2point0

      Works for nearly any car.

  • Ben

I know it would NEVER happen, but imagine the Supra with Toyota’s 4.8 V10….ermahgurd….Hell, a five cylinder from Toyota/Yamaha would be incredible!

  • Jason Miller

Dealers that mark up cars are SCUM.

    • Shahul Usman

most porsche dealers upcharge for GT cars and specials.. im not defending the practice.. I think they should all be sold at MSRP, but 99.99% of cars are sold well under under MSRP… toyota dealers sell most cars at huge discounts… wait 3 months and they wont be able to give that car away

  • Bash

I won’t pay $ 50k even for the very first one even for if it had a serial number of 1

    • Thunderbolt

check out hoovies garage where he bought his Jeep Gladiator, he somewhat got scammed into buying a launch edition.

  • TheBelltower

This is just an attempt to manufacture perceived demand. The reality is, there’s no price that would make this car appealing. They’d have to pay me to take it.

  • Sovereignty

$100k? Fools and their money are easily parted.

  • FordMopar

Does the markup come with new Toyota Tacoma for winter driving?? Geeee…

  • Six_Tymes

I would think this is sort of helping 86 sales now. shame the 86 has that outdated dash, with that nasty looking wart center vent.

  • GobbleUp

Ask Acura, they can’t give away the nsx.

Or bmw with their whole lineup.

  • kingRidiculous

high-fives all around at Jerry’s for the free advertising.

  • Liam Paul

whatever fool lol pays the 42k markup rightfully deserves to lose that money for being so dumb.

  • Ben

But has anyone noticed that this car is BUTT UGLY?! I’d only buy it if the $42k markup was used to build an entirely new body.
