How quick is the latest iteration M760Li xDrive? According to BMW’s official numbers, that would be 3.8 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph), and a 305 km/h (189 mph) top speed.
Mind you, that’s mind-blowing in a car that doesn’t cut back on comfort and weighs as much as a small shed. That’s thanks to its 6.6-liter V12, which underwent a few revisions that comply with the new emissions regs, yet still puts out 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque.
Manufacturer’s performance numbers don’t always translate to the real world, though, so AutoTopNL decided to find out what Munich’s top executive sedan will really do. The reviewer got behind the wheel on a no-speed-limit section of a German highway and subjected the car to a top speed test.
The data was recorded on a third-party device, which is more accurate than the speedometer, and saw it hit the 300 km/h (187 mph) mark in no time. Other measured runs were from 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph), as well as the quarter-mile. Not that we expect to see it anywhere near a drag strip, but it’s nice to know what it’s capable of.
Anyhow, in case any M760Li would like something more, they can always turn to the tuning community. One of the choices available is G-Power, who last year upgraded the previous iteration of the German flagship sedan, giving it a substantial boos and upping its output to 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque.
