There’s been some talk that, with a starting price of $49,990, the new Toyota Supra is a little too expensive, especially compared to the $59,995 C8 Corvette Stingray. However, things aren’t always that simple.
Pricing for the 2020 Supra sits at roughly $24,000 more than the lighter and less powerful 86. That may sound like a lot, but it is worth keeping in mind that while the new Supra is not that bigger, it offers far more features and is significantly more powerful and faster.

Truth be told, the two belong in totally different segments. A more fair comparison is against powerful RWD sports cars, such as the M2 Competition. You see, whereas the new Supra starts at a touch under $50,000, the Bimmer will set U.S. customers back at least $58,900 for a bare-bones example.
With this in mind, Cars decided to see how the Supra would compare with one of its more desirable and expensive rivals. Thus, they lined up the duo for a quarter-mile drag race and the result shows that they are quite evenly matched.
The journalists featured in the video decided against using launch control, as it was a very cold day and the drag strip was exceptionally slippery and like glass, which isn’t exactly ideal for conditions for such systems – and helps explain why the Toyota was so frisky off the line.
