Beige 2009 Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster Is One Of A Kind, Thankfully

When it comes to iconic models such as the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, odds are that not even a Frankfurt Taxi-like beige paint job will keep the car from changing hands between collectors, or just people who are fans of the nameplate and can afford to keep one around.

This particular one is a 2009 beige over red/black Roadster model, and according to its eBay ad, its 5.4-liter supercharged V8 engine has only been alive and kicking for 7,297 miles (11,743 km).

While the car does feature a rare spec with what is being described as a one of a kind paint, we can’t help but feel most that SLR buyers would prefer a more conventional colorway, especially since they would first have to bid a minimum of $390,000.

Meanwhile, custom options fitted to this SLR include its red brake calipers, black carbon trim, leather two-tone steering wheel, XL passenger seat, X-Large driver seat, black contrast stitching and a CD player.

The overall dual-tone red and black interior offers some much needed contrast to the beige exterior, which maybe kind of works with the dark red soft-top? Trying to figure out just how much we love/hate this spec is exhausting.

On the other hand, we could spend hours talking about the SLR’s 5.4-liter supercharged V8 unit, which produces 617 HP (626 PS) and a peak torque figure of 575 lb-ft (780 Nm). That’s good enough so as to get you from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds, and on to a top speed of 208 mph (334 km/h) – properly fast even by today’s supercar standards.

I think I know what they were going for – but the shades are all wrong. A tweak one way or another and it would probably look much better.

I may have gone with a black top. Other than the cheap looking wheels, it’s a fine looking automobile.

The color combination when the top is up makes this look really nice.

German taxi beige but it works…

With new headlights and transmission the SLR could still be sold today and would be respectable. That’s the mark of a proper hypercar!

It’s an ugly color so stop legitimizing it.

Lemme guess, it was driven in the Middle East?
