To car fans like ourselves, the Tesla Model 3 looks quite distinct from any other car on the market but evidently, not everyone is so familiar with the looks of certain cars, not even their own.

The Tesla Model 3’s Sentry mode has captured some pretty interesting footage in recent months and this clip is one of the best. It shows a couple mistaking a white Model 3 for their white Hyundai and actually trying to open the doors of the electric sedan.

The man and woman can be seen approaching the car engaged in a conversation and clearly rather distracted. As the man talks to his partner, he reaches down to open the car’s door only to find that unlike a Hyundai, the Model 3 has handles that sit flush with the door. He fumbles around trying to find the door handle and even makes sure the car is unlocked before trying once again to reach for the non-existent door handle. It is at this moment it dawned on him; this wasn’t his Hyundai.

Over on the other side of the car, the Tesla’s camera caught the female passenger doing the same thing and once again discovering that there was no door handle. She also soon realizes her mistake and can be seen walking over to the couple’s Hyundai parked one space over clearly embarrassed by the mistake.

We suppose it could be a complement to Hyundai that some owners can’t spot the difference between the South Korean automaker’s vehicles and a Tesla but it simply seems the couple were a little distracted. Here’s hoping the male driver is a little more attentive while behind the wheel.
