2020 Audi E-Tron Sportback Has No More Secrets To Hide Thanks To These Spy Shots

The next member of Audi’s all-electric e-tron family is ready for launch and these spy photos clearly attest it.

The 2020 Audi e-tron Sportback has been spotted by our photographers virtually undisguised, wearing only tiny patches of black tape on the headlights and the third lateral windows. Scheduled to debut on November 19 at the LA Auto Show, the e-tron Sportback is the coupe-styled version of the e-tron SUV and that’s pretty obvious looking at this prototype.

Key design features include the sloping roofline which alters the shape of the side window line, and the rear end which is completely different to the e-tron’s.

While the face looks very similar to its more conventional sibling, the rear adopts fastback styling which results in a completely new tailgate design and slightly revised taillights. This particular prototype also features grey cladding around the entire lower end of the vehicle, for a more rugged appearance.

As with the e-tron, the Sportback version gets to keep the side rearview cameras, at least in Europe. We don’t get to see what’s inside, but the prototype is in right-hand-drive configuration. Expect the interior design to mirror that of the regular e-tron, though.

Something else the e-tron Sportback should have in common with the e-tron SUV is the electric drivetrain. Expect two electric motors that deliver a combined output of 355 HP (265 kW / 360 PS), upgraded to 402 HP (300 kW / 408 PS) in the so-called “Boost Mode.” When the latter mode is engaged, the Audi e-tron sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.5 seconds so we can expect the e-tron Sportback to at least as quick.

The driving range should also be similar at around 204 miles (348 km). That’s not spectacular but at least the e-tron offers a 150-kW fast charging system which “rewards” the crossover with approximately 54 miles (87 km) of range in ten minutes and 163 miles (262 km) in 30 minutes.

How nice of Audi to pass the photographers twice. Spy shots are these days just marketing tools 😉

This final design is such a crushing disappointment when contrasted with the concept Etron Sportback. Really couldn’t care less.

I mean, it’s not like the concept, but I like it tho

These guys are late to the party but looks like they gonna start rolling out lots of EVs very quickly in the coming years. Merc and BMW might do the same!

  • SteersUright

Looks like the old ugly Accord Crosstek or whatever it was called. This is not a pretty Audi by any stretch.

Haha! Totally what I thought as well. I drive an A7 and love it, and while I want an electric car, and want to stick with Audi, I’m underwhelmed… again.

So yeah, about the fugly charge port door. Why the hell can’t Audi, BMW, Porsche, etc. just copy Tesla and hide that s#!* within the taillamp or other descreet location. Why add a large dorky panel to an otherwise smooth body panel? Seriously, I expect better from Audi, if not all brands.
