2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Breaks Cover Ahead Of SEMA Debut

Chevrolet is debuting a brand new look for its Colorado midsize truck range and kicking things off is the 2021 ZR2 model, which will make its public debut at this year’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the 2021 Colorado will make its first public appearance on October 10 at the 2019 Method Race Wheels Laughlin Desert Classic.

According to Chevy, the Colorado range will now feature greater differentiation from trim to trim, as well as a new ‘Sand Dune Metallic’ exterior paint for Z71 and ZR2 models.

“We’ve sold 520,000 Colorado pickups in five years through a relentless, foot-on-the-gas approach to product and feature updates,” stated Chevy Trucks marketing boss Bob Krapes. “With its new-look front end and tailgate, Colorado will now have a more aggressive appearance to match its award-winning capability.”

Visually, updated center bars, lower fascias and front skid plates await WT, LT and Z71 Colorado models. At the same time, WT and LT models will gain brand new gold Chevy bowtie logos, while the Z71 gets a black bowtie.

As for the ZR2 off-road performance variant, this will be the only Colorado version to feature the all-new, lettered, flow-through “Chevrolet” front fascia, which is said to provide the driver with improved visibility. It also makes the truck look more aggressive, which was the goal all along.

For 2021, the ZR2 will also gain red tow hooks as standard, to go with features such as the Multimatic DSSV position-sensitive dampers, standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, 2-inch suspension lift, 3.5-inch wider track, off-road rocker protection, cast iron control arms, Autotrac transfer case and multiple skid plates.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado will go on sale next year, with pricing to be announced at a later date.

      • MarkoS

Mosy everybody spending this kind of money in 2019 want a push button start.

    • charlotteharry57

Probably not before the supposed all-new ’23.

  • charlotteharry57

Oh for cryin out loud. Many of the ’20s aren’t even on sale yet. Couldn’t GM do this for the ’20s?

  • clueless economist

Hopefully the interior will be completely updated and the 2.7 turbo will replace both the current 4 cyl and V6.

    • charlotteharry57

Doubt many more changes to this one, considering that the ’23 will be all-new, so it’s being reported.

    • Mr. EP9

That’s a big no for the interior and I doubt they’ll replace the V6 with a 2.7 Turbo.

Why the heck does Chevy INSIST on making the ugliest front ends on their vehicles. It’s really taken a turn for the worse with their trucks.

It’s sad because the ZR2 is otherwise a great truck. The current ZR2 Bison is a genuinely desirable vehicle. This however, is not.

    • clueless economist

I agree. Wasn’t the new Silverado’s front end styling universally panned? So why put it on the Colorado?

  • Mr. EP9

    You ruined it.

  • FordMopar

Is this a joke or what? Same headlights and tail lights. Just different, more open grille. Typical fkin’ GM to keep the same look for entire generation. This is old @$$ 2005 looking truck.

    • krusshall

I guess they should have done what Ford did and introduce an “all-new” 2019 Ranger with warmed over styling dating back to 2011.

      • FordMopar

At least Ford updated the taillights with LED and etc. when being built here. Chevy stayed with same look since first released.

  • Puddingpopper

Remember that failed camaro front end?

  • MarkoS

Same ole headlights, Chevy is going to end up wishing they did more significant updates.

Did one of the Lexus stylists move to Chevy?
